"Hood Scoop" for Intake
"Hood Scoop" for Intake
Every time I look into the engine bay, I just cant help but look at the logistics of the air traveling to get to the filter via the snorkel. I am curious if you guys think that this will work....
If you/I/someone were to make some sort of very small hood scoop/vent and have it right over the location of the filter box, an intake would breathe much better I would think. Now I am not thinking gaudy or even very noticible to the standard person. Back in my 350z days, several people were using these...

I am not a fan of the carbon fiber, but since it would be more horizontal that the front bumper, the OS hood might need some additional fabricating. Just thinking something small and paint matching to blend and look as OEM as possible.
Thoughts?

Taking an idea from the EVO, something like this but half the size and only on the drivers side above the current filter box..... and no carbon fiber.

Aside from just working, there are other considerations such as placement on the hood as to work around the hood reinforcements--you dont want to cut thru one of those and it also needs to be placed in such a way as to avoid dumping a ton of water into the airbox when driving in the rain.. good luck.

> Have you looked under the front hood panel (plastic shroud covering between the front subframe and bumper, in the engine bay)? I'd imagine making large directional-intake behind the stock front grill to channel more air through (at speed) to the snorkel would be more feasible than to start cutting into the bumper-fascia or hood for an aftermarket scoop/vent. (Especially on your brand new vehicle... No way to go back if something is cut/trimmed incorrectly. Just saying.)

Using fillers : plastic/bondo may fix many visual "problems", but if you look where you would need to cut (on the hood) it will greatly compromise the metal structure...
However, if you're willing to give it a go (with your own hood)... We're all in for results.
