Getting "shocked" by the OS. WTH.??
Getting "shocked" by the OS. WTH.??
Not sure why, and I thought maybe It was just the wife being an electric kinda gal, but she's been getting shocked from the OS at different time, and most of the time when she puts the key in the ignition or touching the door getting out.
I didn't believe her till she chewed me out about it and has had complaints from some of her passengers that they are getting shocks as well. Sooooooo,,, I went out to check on it and sure enough, if my finger is too close to the metal on the key when I put the key in,,,,, BAM! I get shocked. She did it too and then turned in the seat to get out, reached up and grabbed the top of the door, and BAM!! I could hear the shock on her hand from the metal door corner.
Seriously,,,, WTF could be going on here????? Any clues??
We are taking it to the dealer Tuesday next week to show them and find out what's going on. Service guy said it could take days,,, I said that's OK, I know people at both or local news stations and it might make an interesting story. He said "lets get checked out first". nice save service man.

Not sure about the key issue but mine does it to getting out.....static is what I have always thought happens more in winter here . Someone told me to put the rubber straps from the chassis to the ground and it would stop. I lessened it by spraying static guard on the seats . Hope it helps

With the recent news of the Earth's axis tilting two degrees over, major sismic activities, along with the new developments of the SR-72 fly-bys, plus the navy's new HRG** > Has resulted in the release of Tesla Particles in the ionosphere... This is what you and your wife are experiencing.

Haven't you heard..?

How do you deduce that?
**************************
But, on a serious note -
Both my wife and I had gotten the electro treatment also from our O.Sport! > Each time we exit the vehicle we get a nice reminder...
Honestly I think it's the combination of the dry air and the cheapy cloth seats...
We do not get this treatment in our other vehicle.

So, the only immediate solution I have - is to throw a piece of cowhide on the seats and call it a day.
First off, do you have cloth seats or leather?
I have noticed in all my cars with cloth seats, I get shocked depending on the clothes Im wearing. That being said Mitsu used to sell a Antistatic touch pad as a accessory. They are discontinued but you may be able to find one. I bought one for my evo and never installed it, but I also cant find where I put it. This is a good harder to find piece, that could keep you from getting shocked!

LOL! I guess I'm not the only one. During the cold days I don't get shocked, but when spring and summer hits, I get shocked exiting the car almost everytime.
My old car had leather seating, and this one has cloth. I think the culprit might be the cloth seating.

I may have to try some anti static spray for the cloth seats.
It's been really weird to experience this on a new vehicle like the OS.
Might have to come up with a decent seat cover the wife like too. (or a anti static pad) I told my wife I'd just start calling her Carmen. (electra !!!!!!)

Well, today was the day. I have to say I'm not all that impressed with the result, BUT,,,, they did attach another ground cable from the engine to the chassis. (or something like that) "ALL" but the service guy who they say because he was wearing polyester pants got shocked from it, just like the wife showed them was happening to her.
Pretty weird of you ask me, I'm sure it was like an StarWars convention for the elderly, but what ever.
They did pop the hood and notice that the letters from the back were placed to spell $hitzLander on the engine cover. (spelled properly of coarse) and asked if we still weren't happy with the power. Wife said NO,,, it needs a damn turbo. ha ha.
The service "helper" asked if the Takeda intake tube had something to do with it and my daughter busted out laughing and said "Seriously dude"....... Yep,,,,,, that's my girl.
They too recommended Scotch guarding the seat fabric and stated that they get shocked from most of the cars they sell due to the fabric used in the cloth seats. So, it looks like I might be looking for some seat covers unless I can talk them into a set from the EVO's to put in so I'm happy.

I hope to raise our baby girl up the same.
