2015 Outlander Sport Battery Removal

I plan to do a simple stereo install since the factory speakers are really bad. I prefer to disconnect the battery when installing. I also want to remove the driver seat in order to run things under the carpet.

The amp will go below the seat as well as the x overs and LOC. So id need to disconnect the battery to avoid upsetting airbag sensors when removing the seat..

However ive read that removing the battery un syncs the power windows or something and people need the dealer to re sync. I cannot confirm this info, the poster could not recall his sources other than his own experience.

Can anyone elude to any pertinent information regarding security issues etc when disconnecting the battery? Otherwise im all set to procede.

Thanks.

does the light stay on??

When you turned everything back on you had an airbag light? So you have to get a code cleared then..

I cant have a light on, my gf freaks over stuff like that.

Or did it go away?

I believe it Will stay on Until you get it cleared at the dealership.

My wife's the same way... must be in the female DNA or something.

it only did it because the battery died... not because it was disconnected and reconnected

I just did an amp, sub and head unit install. You can disconnect the negative from the battery. My windows did lose the auto function. But I disconnected again did something else and when I reconnected it they were normal. FYI if you remove the bezel for the radio there's a connector there that you shouldn't remove with the battery connected. Gave me an airbag light. I also removed the both front seats with out a problem. Be gentle with the covers on the bolts I broke most of mine. I pried them off but I'm pretty sure you have to squeeze and the wiggle them out. You'll be happy to know there are ground points under the seats. Helped me out a lot. The window issue was strange but it shouldn't be such a problem. Just don't disconnect the seats with the battery still connected. Good luck.

I unplugged that plug with the battery connected and got the airbag light. Had to take it to the dealer to get it removed. They didn't ask any questions and even washed the OS for me

Yeah it took it to the dealer and they cleared it for me too. They knew it was due to the amp and sub install and just asked me if it was on before or after the install to make sure nothing was wrong. Free of charge as well!
