Anyone Install 5v Power?

Part of my Sirius Sportster install is doing away with the fugly cig lighter power supply. I'm mulling a few options like USB power (adding an outlet for that) or maybe hardwiring a 5v converter under the dash and running a line in stealth mode to the custom stand I'm making.

Anyone else have 5v power? Or ideas? TIA!

you can do all that or you can just hard wire this up behind the dash. then you wont see it. i did this plenty of times with the sat radios when i was a install sup at a audio shop

Yeah, but then I still have the large Sirius adapter. And they could slip out; wrapped with black tape they'd stay but that is sort of ghetto, no? I was hoping someone used a module to downgrade 12v to 5v and then a barrel connector from that.

Lol yea kinda ghetto but it got the job done and theres plenty of space behind the radio to hide everything. every installers moto is out of site out of mind lol. but yea all them years of doing them like that i never had any power issues come back. so from personal experience it gets the job done

Yes, USB to barrel adapter. But I can't see a way to easily run a hidden cable up to the Sportster.

Not as familiar with the OS (wife's car), but the Evo center console comes off easily enough - would guess the same for the OS.
Might need a long USB cable - drill a hole in the bottom or back of the armrest cubby area, run it up to the front underneath, and may have it exit in the little storage area under the climate controls, or on either side of the center console ... depending on where you mount your Sportster.

Thanks. I'll take a look and see if that works. The OS/RVR seems to be tight fitted so there are few cracks to run wires without drilling or pulling panels.

Evo is super easy - remove 2 bolts in bottom of armrest storage, carefully pry up, undo AWC switch connector. OS should be similar.

Wires can be tucked along the side of the front portion of the center console (where the shifter is).
