Outlander Sport Overland Build

Here is my 4x4 outlander sport/asx/RVR build in progress.
I've had this car since 2013, and aside from trembled on the hitch and some paint chip touch up, I never really did much modification to it. A post by another user inspired me to take it to another level. It's a little ricey, but I like the look of this car. It's aggressive but subtle, small, and much more unique than any jeep, taco, or subie out there. You really don't see many. Also, it's got the 4wd in it, and next to a subie, it's the best winter vehicle I've driven. I've never gotten this thing stuck in the many years of Northern Ontario driving I've put it through, and believe me, I've tried.

Here is what I've put on it so far:
- plastidip on the grill, and all chrome, and plastidip on the tailgate and spoiler.
YES, I know, plastidip is a little silly, but its cheap, effective, removable, and you can always redo it if it chips or scratches.
As you all know, the tailgate on these suckers are super prone to rusting, so after years of dealing with Northern Ontario salt and snow and the biannual sanding and repainting I decided to just go and plastidip the whole thing. It's lasted 2 years now no issue, if the rust ever shows I throw another coat on. If it ever gets too bad, I'll pull the paint off, sand it, and do it again. Considering the underside of the tailgate is rotting right out, it's a decent fix.

- bug deflector with alpeena light bar (I think it's a 22")
For these I had to do some minor fab work to make the mounting hardware work right with the shape of the spot I put it in.

- LED offroad fog lights made for a jeep (plus those little accent lights under the bar)
- thule wingbar evo
- rallyarmor polyurethane mudflaps universal (had to cut the front ones a little skinnier to fit. To make them fit I just measured up and put about 10 self tapping screws in each up and across the plastic wheel hub.
- the wheels are fastwheels thunder 17" with falken wildpeak at3 tires (225/65r17)
The fitment is superb. I wouldn't reccomend going any bigger, as there isn't much breathing room left for the wheels to turn . Right now, there's no rub, even after extensive use offroad.

These wheels fill out the wells real nice, and tie the look of the whole ride together.

In the next few weeks I'll be putting a subtle 1.5 inch lift on it, plus a thule canyon roof basket complete with Jerry cans. im also considering putting a custom muffler on it, these cars have a great throaty sound, but I do lots of long distance driving (1300km road trips at least 8 times a year). It's a very noisy vehicle as is and idk how much more drone I can handle.

If you've ever thought about supeing up your RVR, I say go for it. This thing put a smile on my face every time I see it or take it down a dilapidated old logging road.

I'll post more pics when I put the basket and lift on it in a few weeks!

Looks good! I'm in process of an overland build myself but on an '18, only bad part is the aftermarket world is slim for us. Keep posting updates!

Here's a few photos with the basket on it...took it out for some wheeling last weekend. Unfortunately still waiting on the parts for the lift kit to ship..very excited to have that extra clearance however as these little cars are surprisingly capable with 4wd Lock engaged.

Have fun with that! They're definitely a niche vehicle in the modding community (outside of Australia anyways), but with a few accessories (and some loud tires) it sure turns heads. If you're looking to lift it, I ordered Moog adjustable rear upper control arms and a 40mm lift from anderson design fabrication; will post photos of that when it's installed. Lead times are insane with everything right now.

Will update again in a few weeks when its a little taller.
