Ever seen Boondock Saints?
I just did a small bit of research on his charge of first degree assault and it looks like it carries a higher sentencing range than murder 2 does. If he gets charged with assault in the first degree then he is looking at a minimum of 93 months and a max of 123. I guess first degree assualt is hard to prove given that the State has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant acted with "Tthe intent to commit great bodily harm".
"Great bodily harm" is defined as "bodily injury which creates a probability of death, or which causes significant serious permanent disfigurement, or which causes a significant permanent loss or impairment of the function of any bodily part or organ."
I bet he skates away with a lesser charge and gets a minimal time in jail. ****er.

You will want to charge the defendant with the worst possible crime then negotiate down in charges. My understanding is that you cannot seek to go "up" from the offence which was charged.
was a bit of a shame, i saw an rx7 about 30 min ago as i was getting off 405 in bothell that was turned around and the driver wheel was SMASHED up into the driver fender. pretty sure he turned it around getting off the freeway and wrecked it. likely totaled the car
yea, i wish i'd stopped into McD's and ran up there to take a picture. guy had to try harddddd to do that and must have been flying around that turn. i'm usually 35mph around that last turn as i get off the freeway and it probably wouldn't be hairy til 50+. i'm guessing high-school student or something!
Obviously I wasnt there and didnt see it.
However you guys didnt give any specific info on the car other than "it was a red RX-7".
Great bit of detective work there fellas and way to give some hard hitting facts on it!
With what you provided I think you allowed enough creative freedom to assume anything beyond "red" and "rx-7".
