I wasn't talking about back pressure, that line of reasoning for this particular case might hold a little ground with the NA crowd but this is mainly a turbo forum, or at least it was last time I checked . This is dbsears statement which I was referring to

Well yea...Buschurs is about the loudest you can buy. I'm just saying there is no power benefit for 3.5in exhaust. You actually lose torque and off boost response. Same thing with cutouts. All find and dandy when you have a GT35 or larger strapped up with 30+ lbs of boost but on stock turbo that barely flows 40lbs
Now where in there does it mention a loss of power? It says a loss of torque. Torque and power while related are not the same. Even so, my post was in response to this:

Apparently you have some data showing the loss in torque and off boost response? Just wondering...
I would imagine given his line of arguing that his point here was not that when he went to the 3.5" there was a loss of performance, but a gain. In fact he spells that out above.

We can rat hole on this, but the law of diminishing returns will agree that unless the car is already on the edge (i.e has every single bolt on in the world, cams, NOS, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker with the stock turbo) a switch from a 3" to 3.5" is going to be a marginal change at best. The 3" has already increased the exhaust flow for the stock turbo that switching to a 3.5" is most likely not going to change the flow enough to agree with Mr Bell in this case (good book by the way xturdfergusonx).

Now switch to a bigger turbo that outflows that 3" and then you are in business. So if you are doing it for a bigger turbo down the line then that is fine, but thats a completely different argument than the one we are getting into here .

A fool and his/her money are soon parted . Way too many technical posts in here backed with dyno sheets, logging and relatively reasonable testing methodoligies not to do your research before buying parts. There are no excuses with the VIIIs/IXs (Xs get a break since they are new) .

This is a WW IX? David C right? That car was used wasn't it? Did you pull the rom first and then write it back with only the JDM Mivec changed? Or did you just overwrite his rom completely?

They are great. Installed them in my IX in about 15 min. I'm 6'4" so they make it a great fit.
