I got mine for a bit over $20K and it was in good cosmetic shape and poor mechanical shape which resulted in a few K in repairs.
Dont know how many time you'll actually check this site as these types of posts seldom gain traction and the OP usually falls off the radar afterward (or 3 posts later)
good luck with whatever you do, and dont be afraid to do a bit of your own searching.
Autotrader.com searches will give you what the cars actually go for, and its NOT $16K even private party........ 5 min of your own time would have told you this faster than rreading this post.

IMO its worth paying a couple grand more than your budget. its pretty good shape too.
Here here. got mine for a little over 20k a year ago, engine blew up a month later and i just had the t-case replaced. and my car gets treated VERY well.
good luck finding a good evo for that cheap... It's hard to find an evo that hasn't been molested. in my experience, the only cheap, used evos that are for sale are the ones with the major problems. the only reason the sell it is because it's cheaper for them to hand the problems onto the next owner
Damn Ryan, I mean I understand, stupid people make me angry too, but hell.
Kind of like when Lacy from the after hours answering service calls, and tells you a driver called in with a flat on a steer.
"Driver says the steer has a bolt in it, he doesn't know which steer"
Classic.
What happened to all the smart people?

I'll point out I sold my 03 RR Evo VIII for $18 last year. It had IX interior, nice bolt ons (not majors like cams or turbo), was in very nice shape, had CDT Audio throughout, but did have 50k miles on it. I think it was a very nice car, and the owner now is still happy with it. I sold it for that price because I wanted to get rid of it fast so I could get into a X before the deals ran out.
Sometimes you can find the right car for the right money. If I were to buy another used Evo I'd look throughout the whole US instead of just local. Local would be ideal, but I'd shoot for a completely stock Evo with low miles. Just my .02.

Ok I just picked up a Blue Evo!!! 50 k miles all stock. Not a single mod on it. I paid 16 k Cash. The owner agreed to let me bring it to a mechanic and everything was in good shape.
My plans with it as of now is just an ecu tune of some sort. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
