spun a bearing. Didn't sound like it at all and the car didn't seem to run any different (I wasn't driving, just the occasional idle to juice the battery).

PAH! caused it. Honestly though, there isn't necessarily one thing that caused it so to speak. Luke said the way it looked, it had been that way for awhile and he isn't sure if we couldn't hear it over the turbo whine.

I just chock it up to being a lucky Friday build owner. People have done far worse to their cars than me, but I have a spun bearing at 45k miles.

To be clear, my car had way more power than the stock internals were spec'd for. I couldn't have expected that it would last 100k or anything.

so what is the ETA for getting the beast back on the road?

Personally I use the 125% or 150% rule for modding. I figure that once I exceed 125/150% above the stock characteristics then the weakest link will reveal itself (although not always right off the bat). Its not always perfect, but a general rule of thumb.

Loose ETA is 3 weeks to a month. The clock doesn't start ticking until I source a motor, or the salvaging/ordering starts. Also, it really depends on where I end up in line when the clock does start.

I think it's that rotten FP Black turbo you have honestly. I think if you went back to the stocker you wouldn't have this problem. So being the good buddy I am I will happily trade you STRAIT ACROSS for this stock turbo I have??? Sound like a deal

Seriously though GL on sourcing parts for the new build...bet it's gonna turn out to be the fastest baby hauler WA has ever seen!

I'd love to do a LR2.4L, but I don't have the endless funds like Mikey (I have 4 extra mouths to feed). I haven't heard that they had an extra motor down there, but I didn't ask either. I'll ping Aaron and see what he says.

I'll end up doing what feels like the right way to go, taking into account best performance for the $. I think it really depends on which motor I go with (from who) at this point.

Derek - I'll trade you my black straight across for your stocker, as long as we swap motors at the same time! I wouldn't want this lil' evil breaking two motors in the NW!

Humm your bargaining skillz are running pretty good. Guess I will keep my lowly motor...she isn't a meth addict

On a positive note you could just buy a built 2.0 shortblock. Seeing that would probably be the cheapest alternative and keep your stock head and everything else. But for some reason I have this hunch you may just get something special eh
