Humm...I have noticed bad things almost always tend to happen when honda's are around a modified evo. Somehow a highway kill story of an evo is always brought up and inflated dyno numbers. Then comes the...."challenge". I will roll race you from 68mph to 82mph and stomp your heavy awd car. Then I can make bad jokes towards their vtec and 12000rpm redline because I have one and call my H22 a turd...gotta love it Sorry I'm a sinical person when it comes to Honda's even though I've always had one for a DD. Makes for interesting conversation...especially when some beer is involved

720 front wheel HP never felt as slow as my buddy's EF hatch.

5th gear over 70mph was a good accelleration range. Anything under that was wheel-spin-into-oblivion hell.

LOL, I usaually won't take the evo to any honda meet, but this one I know pretty much everyone who will be attending (annual PreludePower Meet). Kyle will be bringing his prelude, but the interior is gutted out so Cody (puppy) wouldn't be able to tag along. So we decided that I should bring the evo, and have Cody ride with me. But I probably will not be joining the cruise afterwards (don't want Cody to get road sick)....

ok, all you lovellllly dsm'ers...i have a question, that may sound stupid...so don't laugh at me

a 6bolt and 7bolt motor....difference? if i read right, the 6bolts are more so found in 1gs, and 7bolt in 2gs...but does it make a difference whether it's a gst or gsx? my brother and i just picked up a 2g gst that we need to find a motor for...

2g had the 7 bolt, 1g the 6 bolt. The 7 bolts had issues with crank walk, so the 6 bolts are considered better. Also if I remember correctly, the 1g head flowed a bit better, but I could be wrong.

If you're looking for a new motor, I'd suggest the 6 bolt, but I think there may be some work involved in the swap (not positive), but there are members here who know faaaar more about DSM's than I, so just wait for one of them to chime in lol.

I'm pretty sure the only real work involed in using a 6 bolt on a 2g is swapping the knock sensor and maybe one of the temp sensors... it's been a lot of years since I did any sort of research in the DSM area.

I believe the 2g head flows better, but the 1g intake manifold is better than the 2g's. You were on the right path. You also have to get the CAS sensor harness to do a 6 bolt in a 2g also. If you can find a 6 bolt do it, but otherwise the 7 bolts are just fine.
