I bought a brand new ninja, then took that class.
Was awesome, you get to learn on their bikes - and they welcome people who have never even been on a bike.
Also cuts your insurance rate. Although i still totaled my bike, and will never ride one again
Yeah I just got myself a ZX6R. My first street bike, been riding off road for 10 years, could always use some improvement though.
Thinking of taking the novice/intermediate class. Only a one day class and you still can use their bikes.

Sport bikes here in the NW is just not fun. I rode for years growing up in Southern California. You can ride everyday, everywhere, and it saves so much in gas over cars, (I pretty much daily rode). When I moved up here, I rode maybe 2 to 3 months a year and just got out of riding entirely. Here are some good reasons why riding here sucks:
1. People in the NW cannot drive. (Slow, blind, and overall just retarded) You are likely to get killed by these tards.
2. WA State Highway Patrol loves giving tickets. 70 in a 60 on a bike and you're getting nailed. I can pedal bike 60mph, why do I need this 2 wheeled beast?
3. You can't split/share lanes. If I'm gonna be treated like a car while on a bike, I will just drive a freaking car!
4. Weather sucks, freezing your soaking a** off on a bike is not fun.
5. Ok, rant over.
6. Sell your bike, make Evo crazy fast.
For those that are set on riding here, take the MSF course! It teaches you solid techniques that you will use everytime you ride.

Yeah, my collision was due to an idiot, changed lanes into me. I loved riding and would love to do it again, however, I will have back problems for the rest of my life. Starting that at 17 was not smart.
Washington state as a whole has some pretty damn good roads, (chuckanut, neahbay, the other side of the sound) granted they are nothing like the California mountain roads but its still fun. Yeah the weather sucks but you can manage putting the bike away for 3 or 4 months for the winter. Most sport bikes now a day can withstand the rain and if you get a good aero stitch suit you should be good to go.
We don’t have great rider awareness like some other states but I know we are trying hard to get it recognized here in WA. Also a lot of groups here are trying to get a lot of laws passed or changed to help out the riding community. So wait around a bit and you should be good to go.
Also take the sponsored course, you will learn a lot and get you more educated than the guy just took the test at the DMV. After completing that take a look at some racing schools, like 2Fast, NESBA, Mike Sullivan, and Adrenaline Freaks. Get some full leathers and tear it up on the track. Track days are cheaper than cars and a lot more fun!
Also accidents will always happen, retards are the same here in WA as they are in other states. That’s the risk you take by riding your MC. I’ve been riding since 2001 and done it all. From being the young kid that was reckless to the older kid that knows better (im still a young guy). I still enjoy spirited rides and ripping up the track. I have been able to keep myself and the bike in one piece. I also have friends that have done the same. So be careful and educate yourself and ride safe…

Thanks for all the input. I'm going to sign up for a MSF class tomorrow then.
Right now I'd like to use this for getting to work and back on dry days (5mi) and taking the bus on others. I need some downtime on my car to finish my engine swap.

Welcome aboard man. I would have gladly sold you my oem fmic. If you know any other RA's looking for one, let me know. I'm going to upgrade to another one anyway.
