That would be pretty funny if it was Annie using my username though.

She has made it clear that she supports me modding/racing the car, she drives it to work and spends her fun money on big international vacations which end up eating into my fun money if I'm not careful (exhibit 1: all of last summer).

Don't have a solid timing equipment yet but looking at cobb AP data logs in the three sessions I went out:

Session 1: first hot lap was 1:27ish and only got one more clean lap in that session because I let the crazy kart by and the GT3 as I was keeping space with him in the curves but he was just on me after that little back straight so I let him by. Looks like 1:22ish is what I got there.

Session 2: hit 124ish in the first full lap and got down to 1:21 by the end.

Session 3: started 1:23ish and hit 1:19ish in what looks like lap 3 but I had to stop right after that because I had to get back to work and the Hawk HPS (not plus) were getting hot faster and faster.

Hopefully they decide to add another day in September as it was a great time. I'll definitely be there at least once a month when they open up again next year.
When did you take off? I meant to say hi to you, as well as the guy in the maroon Evo X, ended up spending too much time making fun of the drifters spinning out constantly...

I always find that to be the most amusing part of the event at the PGP track...one time some kid that was drifting there told me that drifting is the most intense and exciting type of "racing" in the world

He's obviously never been in a car with a good driver, then.

Talked to Juli Z today and they are definitely continuing the track days into the fall. Current calendar days:

Sept 14 (Wed)
Oct 5 (Wed)
Oct 21 (Friday)
Nov 4 (Friday)
Nov 18 (Friday)

Fridays are awesome, I don't work Fridays so I will almost definitely be at those.

That's what I'm talking about!! I'll be out there for the October 5, 21 and maybe November 18th in the AM.

I left around 11:30. I had to get back to work for a 1pm meeting and the brakes were starting to fail in the back mini straight after 2 hot laps. I think I saw your Miata but might have gotten lost in the sea of s2000's out there.

Good for you then . Truthfully I didn't review all my laps, just looked at a few across sessions.

I won't be out again at PGP this year, but next year we should do an EvoM day. I wish they would have this on Sundays even once a month or something.

I was generally hanging out with the S2000 guys all day. The S2000 guys who go to PGP are all good guys, and generally fans of anything fast, so don't be afraid to say hi.

PGP was doing the Lap Attack on Sundays, but stopped due to poor attendance. There were many reasons for the poor attendance, notably a format which made it not a good value, but unfortunately Sunday car days went away too. I know people have asked about Sunday events, and PGP's (fair) assessment is that the car guys don't reliably show up for them. PGP makes a lot more money running rental karts on Sundays than they do cars. It wouldn't hurt to ask for winter days, but the car guys tend to be REALLY fickle about sub par conditions.

weak sauce. They had a system that worked well last year... I don't know why they went away from it. I hope to run at PGP a bit next year, but if they don't have a series I'll probably run a lot of auto-x next year.

I'm not talking about lap attack, just generic lapping days like what they have on Weds. At the bigger tracks the weekend days in summer tend to be more packed than the weekdays....it may/may not hold true at a smaller track like PGP as you say though...maybe they could mix in kart/car sessions?

It worked well because you're bringing one of the 5 fastest cars and had a good chance to podium every time you and your friend showed up. Trust me, Lap Attack was entirely uninteresting when your relatively stock Miata is put in a category with Bundy's "Miata" with 400 WHP and 265 rear tires, much less the supercharged Atom that I think still has the track record for a car.

The 2011 summer season broke down to be about $120/event ($175 season pass [required for accumulating points], $65/event + $25/event to rent a transponder). That's horrible for an event where you get, effectively, 12 hot laps. A PGP lapping day is about $160 and my last time I did something like 75 laps.

I think Sundays would be busy for a normal lapping day; the Wednesday events have filled up when it's nice out. The issue is that, at least on weekends, they are first and foremost a karting facility. The reason we can do Wednesday lapping days is that not many people rent karts on Wednesday; the same is not true on Sunday. They make about $5500 for a car day, they can probably make that in 2 hours with rental karts.

During the week, I think they're OK blending in cars with karts, at least they used to be. The logistics are a bit of a pain, though, and I think they just want karts on weekends (special events excluded).

I guess it depends if you're there to compete or there to drive around in circles.

Losing is never fun.

I agree, the lapping days were better bang for the buck IMO.
