How much track experience are they requiring to run on track days? The track is so close to me but I've just done HPDE at Bremerton and Pacific. The school looks like it's $500 and track day $250. I don't have an "in" w/ the Porsche club

I had only done the proformance school and half a dozen days at PR prior to my first day at the Ridge, I was not questioned regarding my experience.

You could just ask them, too

You have a VR4? I have a couple of friends who are into them. Well one guy, his VR4 has been rotting away in his 'dungeon' since 2010.

I have HPDE experience as well, but decided to do the school since it's my first time out at this track. It's also been a year since I've done any DE. Call me cautious, I guess.

So does the school give you open lapping time? or is it strictly driver/teacher track time. Also, just to clarify, this school (or one similar) is required to do a HPDE event correct?

This is quite an investment ($500 class + $250 event + taking friday off for the class). Definitely something I REALLY want to do, but have other priorities I should probably be spending my money on.

The school is most likely a half day class, half day driving with an instructor at all times. Thats how PR does it. Then on your first day back if you have shown you are safe on the track and able to make smart decisions on the go you will be given your solo license.

Well worth it.....

I attended the 1st Ridgeracing school on April 6th. First half of the day were drills: braking threshold, slalom, reaction time. You also get to drive around the track for a few laps at a slow speed to get the lay of the land. The afternoon is all lapping with an instructor. The school will also qualify you to attend their future lapping days.

I've attended DEs before, and I'm glad I decided to do this one as well. I was only able to attend one track day last year, and I felt that I needed the refresher. The track has a some challenging elevations and transitions, and it was nice to have a pro show me the right line.

If you have track day experience, you probably will do fine without attending the school after a few laps. There is an option to hire an instructor for the 1st half of the day, which might be helpful if it's your first time out at the Ridge. Overall, a great time! I can't wait to clear my schedule for another one.
