What do you get for $500 ? Tipically something similar runs around $200.

Ridge Racing

I did the school in April, and it was very good. Good instructors and plenty of seat time.

I'm doing the DE on that same day. See you in the paddock.

$500 is the driving school. HPDE is $250, lunch included. They had pasta and salad last time.

Was it pasta salad or just pasta and salad? combining the two gives more seat time.

Just like with parts, you get what you pay for. $500 is a great investment in learning how to properly control your car and drive on an incredible race track.

Remember, you get a full 8 hours of instruction from quality and close to 1 on 1 instruction which comes down to less than $62.50/hour rate, I.e. about the rate or much less than a top quality tech at a performance shop.

Afterwards you get to run on a beautiful track for around $250 - 300. It's really a deal and I wish more Evo owners would take part. Was there this past Thursday and it was a blast. Won't be there on the 26th because I'll be at PIR and ORP but should be out again to the ridge in September and possibly October.

Have fun!

Like others have said, it's a great way to get some good instruction on a nice course.

Also, if you want to run an HPDE event, you have to have previous experience in a class such as this. So this is my prerequisite.

The program offers all day instruction with plenty of drive time. If you are new to tracking your car this is the way to go. They will teach you how to push your car to its limits and your own driver limits.

Without taking this program or other similar programs from other race tracks you can not attend the other track days because simply you do not have proven track experience and with instruction.

500 is worth it and later you can do the 200-300 track days....

Been to the ridge with tim, it's an amazing track - very technical in places. Once you find the line, you'll be shaving seconds off your lap times with the biggest ****-eating grin in the world on your face

Already have my sport license, so I'll hopefully jump in on the lapping portion of the day.

After I get my coilover/tires and wheels I was thinking of taking one of these classes. I noticed that portland has a similar class \ track day for $300 but it's a 2 day event so you have to factor the price of a hotel and gas. Does anyone know if you pass 1 class can you use the track days of another (class licence is good for more then just that one track?)

^^ it should be. When you go to a new track, they'll ask you about your school and driving experience. Usually if they've heard of the school and you aren't claiming to be a pro, it will be enough and they'll slot you into one of their not top groups to watch you.

One thing to keep in mind when you get back is that the grouping is based mostly on experience and comfort level with managing traffic (passing and letting passing happen) across the entire track. The faster drivers and cars usually are in the top group but its just because they are more comfortable and proven to be safe in those conditions.

The other groups allow passing only in designated passing zones.

Lastly - I've noticed that usually when its a car club putting on the driving lessons versus a permanent school, it's cheaper. I've never taken the driving club version so can't speak to the quality but I've never heard anyone come out of Proformance Racing School or the Ridge Racing School and say it wasn't worth the $.

Look forward to seeing you out there!

I forgot I have a wedding to attend on the 26th... booo. I'd love for a group of us to get out there together though... Last time I went there were about 4-5 other evo's on the track. Was a great time. Maybe we can set up some sort of camping thing at Twanoh State Park the night before, and head to the track in the morning. That'd be the shiznittlebamsnipsnapsack!
