Over heating problem. Need help dianosing

So the car decided to over heat. The temperature gauge jumps up to max as soon as the car warms up and stays there. I'm not sure what the problem is. I check coolant and that's fine, oils good, looked around for anything else I could find. Didnt see any leaks. Ran the car with the coolant cap off to see if there was any bubbles. Looked fine.
Car has 140k miles on it.

Heat blows super hot. Ac won't work as soon as it over heats. No smell of burning coolant. It idles perfectly fine at around 1k. Boost still hits normally and drives normal.
I ordered a new thermostat and I'm really hoping that will clear it up. Any other ideas??

Check the temp sensor, could just be the sender.

I'm really hoping its the thermostat and not a head gasket problem. It's stressing me out. I ordered a mishimoto one. Anyone in wa know of a reputable shop that works on evos? I can't seem to locate one anymore.

There was something in Bellevue - Ishii or something? Then I think West Werks or something like that in Redmond? Ask Alex (Demon) about the Redmond one as I think he might have had friends that work there?

And of course there is English Racing. Get AAA and get a tow. Best of luck.

*edit - btw, what about Drift Office in Auburn? I know that Evo's aren't necessarily their standard but this should be something that is mostly universal-ish.

if the gauge is pinned and you can take the rad cap off it's the sender or gauge.

It could be any of the above that was the culprit causing the original problem-- however, you likely have a bigger problem as a result. If indeed your car over heated due to other issues you will more then likely have to replace the headgasket and have the head surfaced. Just so you are prepared. GL.

The only sign of overheating is the gauge reading which means nothing if it's not working.

And you were able to take the rad cap off when the gauge was all the way up?

The ones in bold see a lot of Evos if you feel more comfortable going to a place like that.
