Boost lag?

*Boost lag or leak*
Hey I'm a newb to the turbo world so please be patient with me lol. I bought an '06 Evo with 75,000 miles a month ago and it ran good. It pulled hard throughout all gears BUT now it doesn't. When I rev it up to 3k the rev limiter hits like it's boosting but the car doesn't pull that hard. It pulls slightly from 3k-4k and then finally hits somewhat hard at 4k+. Before I just noticed a little lag before it hits but now it doesn't seem to pull at all. Maybe something came loose? I'm also going to be finally taking it in for 60k maintenance since I'm not sure how well the person maintained the car before me. I'm at 78,000 miles now and I hope that nothing major is wrong with the car. Thank you for your time.

I would start with a boost leak test, next I'd check the spark plugs, and after that make sure it's getting proper fuel pressure. Basics needs of an engine= Air, Fuel, Spark.

Do a boost leak test.
And don't treat it like a Honda/Acura. :}

Thanks for tolerating my nubness lol. I researched how to make a boost leak tester and I'm going to give it a go this weekend or the next. Time to garage the EVO until then. Any extra tips that you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated as well. =]

Has the car been flashed in the past by ER? It's possible it's been switched over to a Valet Mode. You should hold the gas pedal down to the floor with the ignition off, cycle the key on, and after a few seconds your CEL should flash. There's two phases, Valet ON, it should flash slow, Valet OFF it should flash fast. (It could be the other way around, I don't remember.)

I think it may be a case of butt-numbness. You just got used to the power level. Time to upgrade.
