Advice needed from seattle folks
Hi Guys,
I sold my evo 9 to my ex last year its been in Florida for most of its life and its has some bolt-ons. (Cams, exhaust, intake....) She told me that she got a fix it ticket about the exhaust. The officer said that if he catches her again the ticket will keep going higher and on the third time she will have to attend court about the exhaust. My question is does this really happen? I never had a problem with my exhaust in Florida. Any advice that I can give her?
Thanks guys

First off, she's your ex.. be done with it?
these tickets depend on how much of a stickler the cop is, and if they care or not - sounds like this cop does care.
If you can prove the dB level is within legal limits, shouldn't be an issue.
Otherwise, have her get a new exhaust?

Lots of places have ordinances against modified exhausts. Cops may be a-holes, but they are not going to write tickets for 'made up' offenses. Those tickets have to stand up in court.
Options are to either just pay the tickets or get a more stock looking exhaust.

Ok I did a bit of research and this is what I came up with.
If the ticket is a noise violation, she can schedule to take a test to see its exact dB level. There are lots of 'tricks' for quieting an exhaust (google them).
If the ticket is a more general 'modified exhaust' citation and not noise based, then she needs to get a more stock appearing exhaust.

What is the ticket for? Is it for the db level? Or is just that it is an aftermarket exhaust? By law in WA no aftermarket exhaust is legal so if its that one the db test won't make a difference.
