Since you are running a good amount of boost have you considered switching to SD and swapping the stock DV for something such as the TiAL?

Hi Im Vinh Mar 28, 2013 05:28 PM

His hard boost taper could possibly be the 9 bov not able to hold in boost, I heard after 25psi or so the factory 9 bov isn't an ideal choice to keep on the car.

evotuner04 Mar 28, 2013 05:34 PM

My bov is crushed, my tuner is running like 34psi on his lol. Idk im down for any suggestions though

Hi Im Vinh Mar 28, 2013 05:45 PM

I'm curious how many people own a 2.5 and have had it dyno'd/tuned besides you

Just one other thats known. He was only on pump gas though to a whopping 23psi didnt show much.

When are you seeing full spool on the ef 2.5?

evotuner04 Mar 29, 2013 05:14 PM

The graph shows way later but it feels about 4200-4300

That's because the EF3 compressor wheel isn't very efficient below 25 psi and generally tends to make similar numbers to an EF2. So essentially you have a laggy EF2. The EF3 really needs close to 30 psi to really start flowing. If you aren't prepared to boost an EF3 compressor wheel close to 30 psi or higher then you really need an EF2.

his car makes 25 psi @4300 ish RPM, but doesn't actually reach 30-31 psi to around 5000. Honestly I have always felt the 3-port by itself spools slightly slower as it cracks the wastegate early near peak boost. Power delivery is definitely different between a manual and a 3-port. My 3-port by itself made my car feel kinda lazy. That is why I am running a hybrid setup.

I tried asking my tuner to do that and he said its BS. So thats why I'm at such a loss for words when I ask for things to be done and nothing happens.

If you add a mbc, you will see hes wrong.

this is 100% correct. I like to use just the 3 port by itself sometimes on stock blocks that are making a lot of power just for that very reason.

So do you think I should try this hybrid setup or leave it as is since its still on stock block?
