Evo 8 with MAP EF2.5
ef4 or die, jk. Is it pretty safe to say that an ef4 is not the best choice for a stock block evo? I eventually plan to go built, and I will be dual mapped on 91 and e85 but for nw on the stock block I still want a fat powerband and I want to make 400whp on pump 91.
I just hate to buy things twice and I can sacrifice a bit of spool for now knowing ill be built eventually...

Those numbers posted by choro3 are good but we need some more details. Is it anti surge? is it ported? And 365whp is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO far from pushing your stock block. I'm also assuming you were on a mustang dyno or dyno dynamics? Better not have been on a dynojet haha

With that being said, the EF4 is actually laggier than the FP Black, and personally too laggy for me. I think the EF3 would be your weapon of choice and full boost by 4200-4500, and no doubt can reach 400 WHP on 91 octane with the right supporting mods.
Here are the pictures of my Dyno results. Its with no anti-surge and the compressor side is ported. It actually is on a dynojet.
I know the stock block can handle 400+ hp easily but like I said I have 115k miles on it. How long have people ran higher boost on the stock internals? Mean4g63, how many miles are on your block? I am going to be buying a bigger turbo today and switch to E85 and run more boost. At those levels you are waaaaaay conservative
I have to agree. Something doesnt add up with turbo, power, dyno. I made 325/312 a few years ago on a mustang dyno with a wittle baby evo 8 turbo and that was at 22.3 psi on pump gas and all i had was bolt ons and cams. If you translate those numbers to a dynojet I'd be around that 350-360whp that youre at now. I'm not trying to dog your setup or numbers, I'm just flabbergasted that this turbo only managed to put that down. IMO those numbers should have at least hit 400whp and 360tq.
Side note: In Minnesota us locals have been running 400-440whp and 380/430tq numbers (mustang dyno) safely on stock blocks. That is of course on e85 but still hp is still hp and same to tq.

. I have pushing my aggressive street JDM pump fuel map for the last 9 months at 28 psi and 400 WHP with no problems.However with that being said, as you can see others have pushed a ridiculous amount of power on high mileage engines. Personally I wouldn't hesitate to take a high mileage engine to 400 WHP and 350 WTQ.
Honestly if you only planned pushing it to 400/25 psi or below, I think an EF2 would probably have been better suited. The 2.5/3 compressors really don't start making significantly more power until it starts boosting closer to 30 psi.

When is your's getting dyno'd? I am very interested in your results. BTW just out of curiosity... considering you love quick spooling torquey turbos/power band you don't think the EF2 was more suited to your goals?

I thought about the EF2 but I didnt want to be limited to 420whp (mustang dyno) I loved what the EF3 did up top and though hey lets find something in between. After seeing Krackas EF2.5 on the X, I asked Chris Carey if they would build it and said game on so...

Also I wanted a turbo to go with a 2.3 whenver that day may happen and this thing would be insane with a 2.3 or 2.4. (Of course that'll probably change once I have 2.3)
