give me a break man. go get a honda if you want 300hp

Glad to say my evo made it through the shoot out this past weekend! Drove it to Norwalk from Pittsburgh, raced, and drove it home. didn't place in the 11.50, but happy nothing broke

For a street car, 600whp on a 4 cylinder is the max I'd want to go. For racing, to keep heat and other factors in line, I'd run much less than that. Yes there are people with big turbo, high-hp Evos...but if I wanted north of 6xx, I'd get something with more cylinders :)

It really is quite amazing what we are extracting from 2.0L even at 600 whp. Scale up to 6L V8, and its 1800 whp. lol.

6 speed

hi guys\gals.im running 305kw atw with no issues at all from 6 speed, mind you iput a rod through block yesterday :( any ideas on how much a full rebuild should cost? my mech says around $15000, is that reasonable?

EvoIX89 Aug 27, 2016 11:33 PM

Sorry about your engine. IMO $15000 is expensive just for a built engine. even if your paying someone for the labor of it. but good your 6 speed held up.

As far as my build goes I've decided to put my Xona rotor turbo up for sale. I could make 600+ on e85 with it, but i know the 6 speed won't like it, and I'm leaning towards something more fun on the street. I recently bought a house and I'm not trying to break anything. Im staying forward facing, but ill be strapping on a turbo in the 52-55mm range. Hope everyone else's 6 speed is doing well! ill still be putting it through the paces, with plenty of street miles and launches on the street.

You can order built engines for WAY less than $15000. $15000 will get you some super trick parts and coatings. FYI, labor out should be ~$750ish and in the same (for the engine). That's $1500. Tuning and dyno time is another $1000 or so. Then buy a long block from many of the vendors here and your probably looking at 10k when all is said and done. And that's still high. You can always spend more (check my thread) but 8-10 should be everything with labor. That's my 2 cents.

Had my trans rebuilt by Shep at around 110k, they recommended Mt-90 and I never had issues with grinding gear using that type of tranny fluid! So not sure why people saying 90wt fluids shouldn't be advised in our 6speed transmission. My Evo MR putting 325whp/300Tq nothing crazy I love my 6speed:spin: #6SpeedSquad:beer:

Been a little since i made a post here but quite a bit has changed!
Recently in last 2 months i switched from my Xona Rotor to a Billet 20G turbo that i built and is mounted on my Forward facing T3 manifold.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...6-dynojet.html

In this thread ^^^shows my little 20G Pumping out 538Whp and 446wtq on a stock 6 speed trans :) Not long after that took it to the track on street tires.

Did an 11.35 at 123mph! my personal best with only a 1.900 60'ft. I was really shooting for 11.00. So i started airing out my tires. i was pretty determined but it didn't end well….
Amazingly my 6 speed didn't break, but my Transfer case differential wasn't having it…
:crap:

Now even though my 6 speed was ok (at least i think), all the metal dust and debris was all over the output shafts and trans diff bearings from the transfer case{thumbdwn}
Of all things to break, my 20K miles transfer case. And after doing the math for having my 6 speed rebuilt, transfer case rebuilt, and clutch its way cheaper at this point to just do a 5 speed swap :( and i really don't wanna throw my 6 back in, just to find out its broken.

So since i plan on drag racing a lot more next season, and my 4th gear in the MR trans is pretty maxed at 123-125mph and 8500 RPM at the track, its time i go 5 speed.

Its been fun but i really don't wanna spend the huge cost on another 6 speed and be limited by gearing. Pics below for carnage!!! I hope this gives great hope to those running a 6 speed on the street! don't swap to a 5 just because its popular! if i wasn't drag racing so much i'd still have a 6, and have a great street car/daily.

If anyone wants to see my long build history of my car all the way up this point heres the link with penny of pics!

That's great news. Now I can rest a little easier at night.

450whp on my 6spd,No problems. I don't drag race, though. Only road racing and autox, though I do launch the car pretty decently at AX.
I did break one 6spd, but it was installation error. I put a 5spd in for about three days, but didn't like it. I will run 6s from now on.
