I will give this a go here shortly.

hey guys,
is this for US Evo 8? or JDM evo 8/8MR? or would it work for both? I wish to purchase a spare key, have it cut, then either program it (or swap the electronic receiver in the key head with my spare key which has no lock/unlock buttons), and then id like to program the lock/unlock buttons thanks |
sweet
im just wondering if the jdm one has that same plug and grounding procedure to program the key im guessing yes being that the usdm one is a jap car anyway just slightly altered |
Hey guys form what i read, so you do need need both keys to repogram it? Right now i have only one remote and no keys. Long story on how i lost them. The dealership can make me a key but will I be able to reprogram it to start my car and work, without having any other keys at all? btw my remote is at my aunt's house but the car is unlocked just planning on programming later if i can drive and get there. lol

Ok so ground pin 1 to pin 4 on the obd access port?
I have tried that and just grounding pin 1 and no dice, What gives? |
I tried it again and it just blows my doorlock fuse when I ground pin 1 in the port to ground, What am I screwing up here?
|
key in on position?
so, ground pin #1, after grounding it, press hazard button 6 times within 10 seconds. press the transmitter button once (i believe transmitter button is my remote?), after you press the button 1 time you must press any button in the remote 2 more times before 10 seconds?. now, if i have another remote that i want to register, i have to do this process again to load the second remote, that will be repeating steps from hazard button 6 more times within 10 seconds again and following the rest of the steps with the new remote? thanks a lot guys so my key in all this process will not be affected? i am only messing with my remotes right?. I too wish to know the above..
The entire reason for doing both remotes again with this process (rather than just doing this process with the spare remote you just purchased) is so that they both read the new code/frequency which will be generated for the remote buttons correct? so how do you do a second remote - do you have to start the entire procedure listed above again a second time (with the grounding and hazard button procedure)? because if so, would that not then make yet another code, meaning that the first remote that you just programmed a few minutes earlier will no longer be working? sorry for the noob question but it is important for all to have this clarified :) |
bump ^^ anyone be able to answer the above question as I have two remote keys
one which is currently working, and another which is brand new unprogrammed.... |
Ok, I'm royally pissed. I followed the instructions, key in but not on, ground pin #1 (pins are even numbered on the damn plug), as soon as I touched ground with the wire it sparked. Needless to say I didn't try to ground it again. Instead I plugged in my cable and laptop, and now I can't communicate with the ECU anymore. I'm guessing it burned up a trace or something. Does anyone know where pin #1 goes to? Is it the ECU itself, or is there another body computer type module? Is it possibly fused (I'm gonna run back out and check that now)...
EDIT: for future reference, use pin #1 as shown in the diagram attached to the first post in this thread. Do NOT use pin #1 as indicated on the little numbers that are molded into the diag. port plug! They are not correct. |
i did everything right but my keyless still dont work wtf? it locked and unlocked to confirm registry when i hit the hazards and after i hit the lock button 3 times on both of the remotes but when i get out and shut the doors and hit the lock button it does nothin... any ideas??

This works great for the keyless entry part. But the immobilizer transponder in the key needs to be learned before the key will start the car. I have access to a MUTT and when I enter the section to program the immobilizer, it asks for an ID Code (4 digit) to be entered. Does anyone know how I obtain this ID Code ??

It didnt work for me at first but i didnt a little more research and foudn out that you need to have all doors closed and then put the key in the ignition and then short pins #1 and #4 and follow the steps. as soon as i did that it worked right away and now have a remote for my evo!!

Here are some pics that may help you out
first get a cable to connect it to data link port Pin 1 and the other end to ground (it could be grounded to Pin 4 or the chassis of the car. I grounded to the chassis) http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/4126/p1040218y.jpg http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/668/p1040216b.jpg http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/3812/p1040208k.jpg there are two port you will find. The one you need to use is the Black one http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/3551/p1040209fa.jpg Connect one end of the cable to the chassis( or to Pin 4) and the other end to Pin 1 http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/2096/p1040211n.jpg http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/8811/p1040212k.jpg http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/9361/p1040217z.jpg after you have all that connect you have up 10 seconds to start the process and OverBoostedEvo is right you need to have all door closed |
i have shorted out the correct pin, pressed the hazard switch 6 times however it wont go into programming mode, would anyone know why? (doors are closed and i followed the instructions correctly, also, an evo mechanic was not able to get into the mode)
