Will put up some pics of the Piston type shift knob in my X as soon as I get it installed in aprox. 2 weeks.

I like the look of the Piston, it would also be somehow unique in the Evo X as the A6 Leopard is our best selling shift knob for this car.

I wish the piston was the heaviest knob in the line-up ;)

just installed mine with shifter bushings.

notchyness is still there when it's cold but it feels a ton better warmed up (fresh amsoil fluids helps too).

wish the stick was a little taller, more on the level of stock cuz it makes it more comfortable to shift, but the throw is great, definitely reduced a lot.

love this product and would definitely recommend it.

Just wanted to say that I installed mine today and I'm really liking it overall. The install took me all morning to do because I had cars in and out of the shop all day but once I finally had some spare time, the install took me roughly an hour or so. Not really too difficult at all except for the clips you have to dremel off. I would highly recommend this product. A little more harder to shift but the shorter throw makes it more fun to drive!

Thanks for the fast shipping TWM.

great write up!

I utilized this write up to install the TWM short shifters on my and a friend's evo x with solid base bushings. Great products! The shifter feels more firm sliding into the gates.

The short shifter is not supposed to remove notchiness when cold. To remove the notchiness, go slow and warm the transmission up first.

That would be grease.

Air mail is safe, however not as fast as other shipping methods like UPS.

Did my install a few days ago. Turned out really well and was easy to do with the included instructions. Thanks TWM!

You got any problems with your shift knob coming loose during cold weather? I got the same one and it comes loose when below freezing outside.

TWM Performance Jan 20, 2010 02:23 PM

I never heard of a shift knob coming lose because of the cold, and it gets very cold up here. I always tighten a lot when I install a shift knob in a customer's car.
