I haven't had any problems with my shift knob coming loose. I think the car has seen -20*F so far.

have not had problems with my greddy shiftknob also but we dont get -20 here

My bad meant this shift knob. Whenever it gets below 39*F it's loose and wants to turn. Soon as it gets warmer, say 49*F I cant move the damn thing. Might be because it's aluminum. Might get the greddy one since it can handle the -20. What's the greddy one made out of?

minés(greddy counterweight) made of metal so its hot when it's hot and cold when it is.
greddy superlight is plastic (not sure what material)

This might sound really noob but is there a chance that this will void my warranty if something happens to my trans?

Just switch back to stock if something does go wrong.

the stock "upgraded" knob is made out of an aluminum shell and a plastic insert. the insert is glued on and will thermally contract and expand faster than the metal. that's why you get the loose/tight turns depending on the temperature. or if it's even worse and has split apart, i was auto crossing and the metal part came right off the plastic on me. that was fun.
