what problems were you having with the mivec head?

 

Valve float problems. It really wasnt the head. I put the kelford 288/280s in the car and after i put them in there the car broke up on every pass. Even at the shootout it broke up and i had to let out of some passes. I made 1 clean pass there that still had hiccups in the run and went 9.60@153. It was my fault. The springs/retainers were in the car for a year prior so with that high lift of the cam didnt work out well. Now i am on the Evo 8 head with the STM 650 cams!

UPDATE!

Weather is pretty decent in Chicago with temps around the mid 50s. I going to take the Junk Box on a quick cruise cuz i think this is the last day of decent weather for us

But I sold my Stock Recaro seats to my buddy and i am picking up 2 NRG Carbon Seats with sliders and everything ready to bolt in the car That was on the list this season was to get different seats. Im planning on getting the seats next weekend after thanksgiving and putting them in the car. Ill update this with pics but that is the first change to the Junk Box for the 2012 season! Stay tuned!

8s are around the corner next year for sure. Whats the goal for the pass? Just 8s or is there a goal of reaching deep into the 8s? Either way good luck and that is one great looking car!

 

Thanks man! I'm excited to get back out there in April. I actually just did a compression check and it was 160-170 across the board which is great
Overall goal is to make a 8 sec pass. To get deeper in the 8s I will try for a few times but I'm not going to stress about it. Not a lot of people have gone 8s before so being apart of that club who has I'll be more then happy!

 

Glad you decided to stick with it! I was pretty damn bummed when I saw the FB post about possibly moving on, I was like "WTF!?? He's soooo close!!"

Then again I've had those thoughts with my car before so I can relate.

 

Thanks man! Yea I had thoughts of moving on but I couldn't do it. The Evo and I have came a long way from when I first bought it. I have 8s in mind and won't stop till I have that slip in my hand. Stay tuned for more updates!

 

Cant wait till next season. My plan was to hit GLD tomorrow but they are all of the sudden closed this weekend due to weather. They may be open next weekend but Im not getting my hopes up. Really wanted to make a pass down the track this year. It was fun watching you do your thing this year. Have a good winter break
