JohnBradley 2012 build- Stage 1

So it has gotten to the point where I should start posting about how I changed things for this year. The build actually started right before Shootout last year when I lost a timing belt and did some damage to the last bottom end. Initially it seemed like it was a seized oil pump, but closer inspection showed it was just the belt.

The head wasnt junk but needed new everything and some love on the combustion chambers since there were 2 marks from valves. Everything else was in surprisingly great condition for being an 800whp car. Bearings looked good, the pistons actually looked good other than valve marks, etc.

Around this time we got the Auto dream to reality so I wanted to head that direction. A bunch of time spent on that and trying to decide how to rebuild my car has turned into what should have been 2-3 months going on 9 (I move slow sometimes )

2012 Engine specifications-

Solid filled 2.4 with electric waterpump
R&R I beam 156mm connecting rods
Wiseco 9:1 1400HD pistons
ER spec Cometic headgasket
L19 head studs
ARP main studs
Stock crankshaft
FIC2150s
Magnafuel 625
Aeromotive FPR
Bushmaster Cylinder head
Supertech valves
Kiggly Springs
GSC Custom cams (R2+ )
Magnus V5
AMS oil pan
ER 8x11 Oil cooler and Trans cooler

Turbo kit for the time being is an FP Black with ETS 4" and piping. I will be switching back to the now twin scroll 3794 but for the sake of testing I am trying to keep this as simple as I can for the time being with the Auto. The ETS 3.5" exhaust is still there and I will be adding a JMF O2 dump and 3" downpipe to the mix.

Engine management will continue to be a Stock ECU for the timing being, but sooner or later it will get a standalone as I need WAY better datalogging than the stocker is capable of. The trans is built the same guy that does Jeff's and Andrew's, so so far so good. The 300M shaft will go in as soon as we get them and then I will probably weld the center diff at the same time. I have the Buschur Shifter in there with our custom Mitsu knob (about to be released) for control.

Now for some pix-

Switch to our small brake kit for some 15" action later on-

I always wondered why someone didn't eliminate the gold waterpipe around the back of the block

I didn't see you mention whether those rods are steel or aluminum

I have a 3794 and an S374 down the road. I have a feeling the Auto project isnt going to be overnight so I am prepped for the same timeline we had on Jeff's trans in the DSM. That was a 2 year process before it was bulletproof. Right now I have 4 years into research then April of last year till now in actual hardware, so we still have a bit to get done.

Since I dont care for Groden and he is the only option for aluminum that works with a 100mm crank, I just went to the R&R steel I beam.

Those are actually 99 LS Integra 240cc for plugs. I bought the Magnus before there was such a thing as 2150s. When I need more fuel than the 2150s and pump can provide I'll go mechanical and swap 1000s to the primaries and 2150s to the secondaries.

That day is quite a ways off

Looking good, I can't wait until you have it up and running and testing the trans! Also can't wait for the 300m shafts, literally, I can't wait! haha

I am not sure if its the same cooler core they use or not, but that is our Oil cooler kit actually. It uses a modified stock bracket and one of our manufacture.
