My simple evo 8 build

So i bought an evo back last July. I knew it would need some work but I was unaware that I would need to do it all twice. I had the motor rebuilt due to poor compression and I wanted a rebuilt motor lol. I was having an issue with it stalling every time I would come to a stop, or creep forward at a light. So I ended up making it completely stock. I took the cams out, took it back to get a stock tune flashed back on to it. I swapped out the eBay intake and piping for an Injen intake and piping. and it ran great! all until Yesterday. I was driving and started smelling rubber. I then pull up to a light and see smoke coming through the vent in my hood. I then get it to work to see my valve cover gasket melted! The head got super hot, due to the HLA pressure regulator being forgot to be put in when the head was being reassembled. So that lead to my bottom end starved for oil and all my bearings shot and many more wonderful things. So the car had to be rebuilt for the 3rd time in under a year... What luck I have had huh? So I will be rebuilding the entire thing to spec. There will be no rush and going to make it PERFECT. So we are taking it slow, but so far I got it the coolant drained and radiator out, and the piping out, had a bit of time to look into the head. Its toast, and I will need to buy me a new one. Luckily I have a set of Kelford 272's I'll throw in when the time comes.

Sorry to hear man. I would hope the person that rebuilt your engine will take responsibility for that.

Send that motor to buschur and all your problems will be solved, sorry to hear about the misfortune and the shop should take any responsibility for any incorrect installs.

A strongly worded letter from a lawyer should resolve the problem if the shop doesnt accept responsibility. actually going to court is expensive, but most shops will settle and fix the motor if they truly are at fault. dunno how much a letter costs, i use prepaid lawyers and they write my letter/threats for free.

That does suck but on a good note it is nice to see an evo being towed the proper way. Curious as to why you are going to rebuild it to stock specs. I understand maybe not wanting high hp buy why not at least upgrade some of the internals, that way in the future if you deiced to want more power you will be good to go.

no oil pressure light went on, well not that I had time to see. Once I saw the smoke coming out of the hood vent I pulled over and towed it home

Nope the shop did not take responsibility for it. So I had to pay everything out of pocket. ended up being about 3k for a new head and the bottom end rebuilt... for the 3rd time

The car is all together, I drove it for a while, redid the tail lights they look nice. I brought it to strictly Modified, but on the way my tcase took a crap on me so i had to rent a trailer and trailer it the rest of the way. This car has been such a pain in the butt.

I know how you feel. I am about to pull my motor for the 2nd time. But this time around I'm doing everything top to bottom because I don't want any issues lol. I hope everything works out for you. Keep your chin up and and when you get done you will be happy to be behind the wheel again.
Its a love hate relationship lol
Good luck bud.

Got the car back from strictly modified. They sure do amazing work, had a few things looked at. I got it all tuned

I made 424awhp and 396tq with the following mods

ETS FMIC
Kelford 272 cams
FIC 1500 injectors
3" turbo back exhaust
Injen IC piping
Evo 9 turbo
Hallman boost controller

I am back in Michigan and have a few more mods to get going on.
