Justin's Widebody Matte Evo 2.3L Stroker Build w/ Shaved Bay
So i figured id finally start a build thread since the engine is being built.
A little about the car, It has been in many different forms. Im sure you have all seen it when it was Matte Green or WW with Digitial Camo fender and a GT wing. I bought my car Dec 2009 right before i went on a 7 month deployment. I traded in my 04 SRT4 Neon, was fun while it lasted.
As for the performance side of my car.
The car was almost 100% stock when i got it. Mods were Fake C-west sideskirts and BC280 cams w/ no tune. Im sure there was other mods from the old owner but they were all taken off. I got the car with aprox 42k miles, which was good for an 03.
After my deployment i installed new GSC S2 cams, Full bolt ons, a PTE6162 T3 turbo setup and had the car tuned by English Racing on SD and pump gas. Car made 465WHP/369WTQ on 28psi.
I left the car that way for a while. Then i got transfered down to Jacksonville, FL were i currently live and decided to switch to a stock Evo 9 turbo on E85 with the help of Freddie @ Spec-ops Motorsports. We got the car to make 450WHP/416WTQ on 29psi and it was amazing! Only down side was the gas mileage because the turbo spooled so fast. I also made it on the Stock turbo top 20 list for 2011 going 11.7@117mph.
Early this year i had a unfortunate event happen when i spun a rod bearing on the #1 rod. Thus begins my new build.
On to the aesthetic side of the car.
Like i said before, when i got the car the only mod on the outside was the ugly fake C-west sideskirts and a missing front lip. I quickly changed that by adding a Rexpeed front lip, air ducts and some other CF goodies. Also grabed my first set of rims which were 17x9 rota grids.
I soon became bored with the rota grids and started to try other wheels. I tried evo 9 wheels, rota torques, evo 8 wheels, then decided to go wider and got some 18x9.5 MB Battles. Also around this time i got new OEM fenders, since my stock ones were jacked from the old owner. At the time i didnt have any money to paint them so i got Digital Camo Vinyl Wrap and wraped them. Some people loved it and some didnt but i liked it so it stayed that way for quite some time.
After moving to FL and seeing the high class of cars there. I figured it was time for me to step up my game. I got a amazing deal on some 18x10.5+15 Enkei RPF1s in SBC. Then i thought, "How am i going to fit these on my car?". So i then got a Version:Select +30mm widebody rear overs and wrapped them in the same Camo Vinyl. Also around that time i picked up a Origin lab GT wing form Team Wing Racing. O and changed wheels again to Varrstoen 2.2.1s full polished in 18x10.5+15. That year my car got a lot of attention on the internet, getting a few features but i knew i needed to do more.
After long though i removed the Camo Wrap from the fenders and got new wheels once again. Going back to Enkei RPF1s in SBC but this time they were 17x10+15 for a more agressive look. Also had the car wrapped in Matte Olive Drab Green! This was a big hit. Tho i loved my RPF1s i knew i needed something more agressive. I contacted the guys at Complete Custom Wheels and told them i wanted to stick 18x11s on my Evo 8 and they asked me if i was crazy! So after a few months wait i received my new set of 18x11 CCW LM5s with Gold centers. At the time everyone was getting into the low and stanced thing so i decided id join and stretched some 255/40s onto those 11in wide wheels and lowed the car with my coilovers to what i wanted as perfect fitmet. At this stage is when my car was featured in S3 Magizine, and New Zealand Performance Car Magizine! It was a great look!
After only having the wrap for one summer some flaws started to show and i wanted to make some body modifications to allow wider tires. I picked up some +25mm front fenders and a set of Toyo R888s in 295/30/18. Also removed the green wrap and had a new wrap installed by Icon Wraps in Jacksonville, FL. The color is now Matte Metallic Blue! I Love it! And not to forget i traded wheel faces with another member and got his Dark Red LM20s! This look took off fast getting name Blue Steel as it reminds people of Superman. It has already been featured on ERTEFA in CA, and Fearless904.com. Check out the links below.
