O-ringing with an MLS is fine, however if the MLS has a built in fire ring like the Felpro, HKS and from what I read the Cosworth has it's not okay. You will have two o-rings pressing against each other. In my case my BLOCK was o-ringed and it caused a groove around the cylinder head when the head moved from pressure expansion and lifting. In your case of having an o-ringed head I would think the head would be okay but wouldn't think the head would seal due to both the head o-ring and built in o-ring in the head gasket interfering with each other. If the Cosworth doesn't have the built in o-ring you are fine. Sorry not knocking your build just wanted to make sure this wasn't the case to keep you from having a head gasket issue.

I know you're just trying to help. The power enterprise and so forth has these fire rings also right? There is a lot of cars i did with orings and fire ring HG's and no issues. I understand what you're saying though. If the two rings interfere with each other its not going to seal.

If I do run into sealing issues I will certainly update the thread and let everyone know so they can learn from a mistake I made.

I did around 10 cars that i can remember off the top of my head with PE HG and oringed head and it held to 40psi+ with no pushing. the PE i would imagine has a fire ring also just like the HKS and so forth.

Not 100% on this, but i think the cometics do also with "HP" in the part #.

Yes the PE does have the fire ring. Good info to know and definitely keep me posted. Very clean build man!

hmmm. I can vouch that a lot of people with 4g64's with O-rings heads run both PE and cosworth gaskets with success.

Thanks and will do.

I spoke to Chris Carey for a bit because he had a 4g64 in his low 8 sec rx7. He used a Oring head + Felpro gasket with fire rings also.

From what I gather, Buschur orings so the orings do not overlap the gasket fire ring, so its just another set of orings biting down beside the fire rings.

Ya there's a lot that don't oring and are fine, and some that do. Orings can cause issues also if they don't bite properly.

Here's some more pics I took today. cars almost done. Will update once its done. Everything fits great I'm very happy.

The only thing i don't like are the gray injector plugs. I need black ones or maybe i can paint over the gray. Or just wire direct and ditch PnP harness.

Ya its almost done. Its been on jackstands neglected for a full year now. I just need to run the new coolant hose to overflow and fill it up with fluids and run the pressure switch wiring for 2nd pump and it is ready to run. Thanks Jason!

My trailer will finally be put back to good use again It will go to the track asap after im done breaking it in.

I disliked those injector plugs as well, especially in my engine bay, that is completely black.

Looks awesome Tom
