'03 Evo GSR 2.3L

I've decided to actually take the time to document and update my first complete engine build. I've done minor overhauls and internal work on my Evo and '98 GSX, but not a fully built long block.

I'm kind of on a budget, but not really. Ill be upgrading the Evo one section at a time. (Long block, then Drivetrain, full fuel system, suspension/brake system, interior).

Every month or so I'm hoping to be finishing one aspect and starting on another.

Mods before tear-down:

--Engine--

3" DP, 3.5" CBE
Injen UICP and LICP w/ Intake
NGK Iridium Plugs
Battery Relocated to Trunk
Hallman MBC

--Fuel--

PTE 1000cc
Walbro 255lp Intank

--Transmission/Suspension/Wheels--

Competition Clutch Stage 2
D2 Coilovers
18x8.5 Volk Racing TE37s

--Exterior/Interior--

JDM Taillights
Autometer 3 Guage Pod (Radio)
Autometer 2 Gauge Pod (Steering Column)
AEM Wideband
AEM Boost
AEM Oil Pressure

Reason for rebuild:

Good ole #4 spun rod bearing.

Looks like fun. Your garage is WAY nicer, cleaner, and more organized than mine.

Update: Finally got time to disassemble my head completely. I also did the Oil port mod on the head to help relieve some oil pressure issue with running a balance shaft elim kit. Sending block and head off Friday morning. Hopefully theyll be back with a week or two.

Looks like a nice build. I'd rock a OEM headgasket though.

I had a #4 rod bearing spin at the shootout. It was on a 2k mile old Buschur block. No idea what made it spin.

Definitely, looking for 550-700 depending on if I can get a deal on a turbo setup.

Mine was self induced. Replaced the rings, honed the block and threw in new rod bearings. Didn't see any scarring or issues with the crank or rods. Well looks like I was wrong

Wow awesome build, you bring me back to my early 20's when I was doing the same on my DSM's.

You're garage is amazing too.
