So updates...
Been working thru process of elimination, basically going thru the list of possible causes from least severe to most severe.
At this point I've narrowed it down to bottom end. If I had to wager, I'd bet on upside-down 2nd rings, but this weekend I'll disassemble and find out for sure.
In other news, I bought a fan.

I don't think oil control rings are directional. I know compression rings are.
Now, if someone left the oil ring support out, that's an issue...LOL

I meant the second ring, they have to be a certain way. They have a ridge on them.

Yeah, the second ring is a compression ring.

Well here's the update after tearing it apart...
Ding ding ding. Precisely what someone did, no oil support rails on the pistons. It also had really bad ring gaps throughout.
But another issue revealed in the bottom end, it was gonna chew bearings and chuck a rod anyway. Looks like clearances were set up poorly as well.
So I dont know if ill be fixing it or not at this point.

Yeah really the only difference between an amateur and professional is a paycheck. I was a professional race car driver for a while, but in no danger of winning the Baja 1000.

Not alot of updates here. I can say that rods & pistons were ordered and engine block dropped at the machine shop. Gonna be Eagle crank 100mm and 2.3 86mm Wiseco HD, Wiseco Boostline rods.
But I'm not very interested in that, been too busy with the new toy. Bought this 2017 Silverado...
And turned it into this...

Rods & pistons were dropped at the machine shop today and it should be a couple weeks until it is done.
I also picked up some FIC 2150cc injectors for a deal.

Moar parts!
Guess I'm upgrading this fuel system n ****.
Radium FPR & Gauge.
Also picked up a SAE pushlock to 6an fitting for the return line on the hanger and I'm going to turn the unused 5/16 evap hardline into a return line. Then I will just have a couple short AN hoses to connect them.
I do have a question on opinions though. Should I do the ends with a compression fitting like this?
Or do an inverted flare and AN adapter like this?
