Overwhelmed with Project Restore

I bought a roller mid July and just towed it home today. Clean title, but...
Previous owner made 830whp and spun bearing and threw a rod. He sold to shop who parted out all the mods. Here is the 2006 roller I'm starting with...
on the bright side, there 78k miles on chassis. Is there an easy way to check odometer? I'm worried about shorts if I connect a battery.

Just checked all body parts. Doors, fenders, hood, and front bumper VIN matched. Trunk is from a donor, which explains the evo 8 spoiler.

Looks like a nice project Don. Yeah, you need to undo all the tie wrapped harnesses & make sure there are no bare leads touching. Most of them should be protected plugs, but im sure there are bares as well

Curious to see the dash light up w/the odometer reading

Hi Joe!
Maybe I can just jump the fuse to dash (of course, I'll have the fuse connected on other end, just in case)?

Somewhat of a basket case. I can only imagine how much of a hassle it'll be to find all the little odds and ends that will be needed here and there to finish it, and what those parts will add up to in cost.

Best wishes on the project though!

Btw, if you want to check the mileage on that cluster, you can always just swap it out with one in another Evo for a quick odometer reading.

It is not much work at all. See here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...e-cluster.html

All the little parts. I found the fuel hanger sitting in a box so I'm guessing the fuel hatch is open under the pristine rear seat splashing around as we towed it. Then I looked under trunk to find charcoal canister missing. Then I noticed something else with the trunk that I really don't like. PM me if you want more info.

I just ordered a brand new evo 9 shortblock. Also have a bunch of oem parts coming with shortblock. Water pump, timing belt, tensioner, etc, etc, etc. All OEM.
I haven't decided on which valvetrain to use. I think everyone wants OEM so I'm leaning towards OEM valves, springs, retainers, and cams. I'll go ahead and CNC valve seats and upgrade the guides to manganese. I will refresh/rebuild tranny and transfer case myself. Worst case, I'll pull stock parts from my car to install on this and do full treatment on TC & tranny to install on my car.
