Good morning everyone! I hope everyone has been staying safe with this COVID-19 plague that's been going around lately. With all this new-found time on my hands, what with being quarantined and teleworking for over two weeks (and counting) already, I've had plenty of opportunity to work on the Evo and get some things smoothed out.
She took a maiden voyage to my parents house, where she met the Chevelle that basically started my color obsession. Dad thinks I'm crazy for having a loud car, but it's like he forgets that his Chevelle is probably louder than the Evo lol.
Better engine bay shot.
Got a new short shifter and replaced the bushings. Feels so much better now!
Giving this car a bath is super satisfying.
One of my close friends got me some carbon fiber j-panels for Christmas, and I finally took the time to get them put on.
Been doing what I can to stay quarantined with this whole virus thing, but I'm trying to at least get out a little and enjoy the nice weather.
Had an issue with my oil light coming on while at idle, and about had a heart attack that the motor had s hit itself. I went through the whole process of draining the oil and checking the filter for metal flakes and all that, and everything looked just fine. My oil pressure gauge had a loose terminal that made it to where it wasn't reading all the time, so I took the time to get that working reliably. At idle, she holds a consistent 30psi, and 90 at cruising speeds, so that confirms that everything is fine and points to a faulty engine block sensor. I got that replaced, and everything behaved as it properly should. Big sigh of relief. I also got my new boost gauge hooked up, got the other gauges wired in better so they actually turn amber when the headlights come on. I also managed to get the wastegate vacuum hoses rerouted away from the exhaust manifold. Lots of little things worked out, and I'm super happy with how things are running now.
I even found a local Evo 8 friend to do the work with, on both my car and his car (he got a turbo upgrade during the past week or so). It's neat seeing the two cars together. My brakes are still one of my favorite bits on the car.
She sure looks pretty all cleaned up.
I've also had more time than I know what to do with since the quarantine started, so I got bored of looking at the dingy, boring door cards. I reupholstered them to match how my headliner came out. I'm loving the outcome!
The quarantine struggle continues! I have continued tinkering with the Evo, and am pleased with the things I've gotten done.
I picked up some new JDM taillights.

These pictures make them look way more chrome-y than they are, but they're the gloss black housings, and they look amazing.
I also finally installed my Fuelab FPR w/gauge.
View of the cluster with the boost gauge installed.
Center dash with all the gauges, JDM hvac, and radio.
The cockpit view sure is nice these days.
I also upgraded my mirror to an autodimming one with the homelink option. Huge fan so far.
I picked up a new front bumper yesterday, but I need to sand and prep it for paint before I can get it all installed. While I'm tackling that, I plan on fixing my trunk and reclearing my wing. I also plan on getting my headliner put back in and getting all the tan interior pieces sprayed black with SEM plastic/vinyl paint that's supposed to be really good. Then the interior will be all back together and looking nice!
This quarantine is driving me I N S A N E. Hope y'all are faring better than I have been lol. I managed to escape the house for a bit the other night and get some shots of the car. I'm loving how the new JDM tails are looking on this.
I also managed to find a JDM 9 rear bumper that's already Tarmac Black, so that should be showing up soon. I also have a brand new Evo 8 front bumper coming. I think I'll be doing the nosechop with it, but I haven't fully made up my mind yet. Still need to pick out a front lip too. Suggestions?
Quarantine is definitely different for everyone, I’m working from home, Thanks God for having a job, making the most of it & keeping busy with house projects, a lot of the EVO stuff was done during fall and early winter, there’s more stuff to do like installing everything needed for E85, that’s soon but waiting for better weather in the northeast to wash, wax and ceramic coat, that should be fun and enjoying it.....
Your car is definitely getting a change up with the jdm rear, cf do luck front lip is a must to go with new bumper. Good luck with the rest and thanks for sharing....

I'm grateful to have a job in these times too; I've been teleworking for 3 weeks already, and have another month to go. Hopefully my sanity can make it lol.
Ceramic coat will be an excellent treat for you! I wish my paint work was decent enough for me to justify that cost, but I'm working on it.
I'll definitely look into the Do Luck front lip. My buddy is in the process of doing a full Do Luck bodykit on his R32 GTR. His build is coming along so nicely; I'm super jealous of it.

Today was a super productive day. I finally got my interior finished and put back together! I absolutely love how it came out. Just in time to look like a complete car for my dyno tune next week haha.
