Good work so far keep it up. What's the plan to make both sides match each other in physical dimensions?
I took some notes and measurements along with some templates I made. It’s probably not going to be exact but close enough no one is going to notice. No one is going to see both sides at the same time
Props to you evoix10 on having the stones to cut into it like that. I'm over here worried about messing up my fenders when I roll & pull them... Honestly I have always said I wanted a metal widebody and I love the fact that you're keeping the lines. I'm excited to see the finished product and I'm sure you are as well.
Nothing major but I finally got around to seam sealing and painting the inner fender. My goal this weekend will be to fully weld in the new sheet metal.
I also received my fenders after a 12 week wait... they’re everything I expected for $300. They’re going to need work but should still turn out ok. I wish there were more companies that made OEM style wide fenders. These are also substantially heavier than the stock aluminum ones.
So I feel like an idiot for not noticing this sooner... I received my genuine Varis side skirts almost 2 months ago. I even did an unboxing video the day I received them. But what I came to realize last weekend was that they shipped me two driver side skirts. I messaged the vendor and they’re working on trying to correct the issue with Varis but they’re not making it sound very confident that they’ll be able to do anything about it because it’s been so long since I received them. I believe these are built to order so hopefully someone else has already made a complaint that they got two passenger side skirts and this can be sorted out quickly...
I hope to post another update by the end of this weekend if all goes well. Thanks for the support!
Me too We’ll see how they turn out when I start working on them. Suggestions on a different set?
I guess anything will be heavier than OEM. But you could always... MAKE some... . I gotta think sheet metal would be lighter? Someone probably makes a CF version, though I imagine they would be $$$$.
Maybe the ones you have aren't as heavy as they look. Or, maybe they are okay, but after seeing what you have done to the rear of the car they kinda pale in comparison

I think when I go through to sharpen/straighten the lines, it will make them look lighter and better. I think making a whole new sheet metal fender is a ways above my skill level lol.
OP - glad to see the progress, keep it up! That sideskirt issue, other than possibly being real expensive, is sort of comical and I hope you get it resolved.

The X set looks good with or without the blade. I wish they would make a blade for the 7-9 that fixed the body line issue. I'm still probably going to end up with them and either try to make a homemade blade or blend them in with a livery.

I cringe at the the thought of destroying the side of my car with rocks thrown from the tire. Even now, I get rubber up along the sides of the car... I can only imagine if I had nothing behind the wheel to stop most of it.
