Custom Sheet Metal Evo 9 Widebody

Hey everyone! I haven't been active on here in a while but here's what I've been working on.

I decided I wanted to go widebody with my Evo 9 but I didn't want to look like every other widebodied evo since it's becoming more common. The goal is to retain the factory body lines as best as possible. For the most part, I'm trying to make it look like it came off the production line this way. See below for my build list and current progress.

Front bumper: OEM Evo 9
Front lip: APR carbon
Front fenders: AIT OEM style
Side Skirts: Genuine Varis Tai version with carbon under skirt
Rear doors: Hand formed sheet metal
Rear quarters: Hand formed sheet metal
Rear bumper: OEM JDM
Wheels: 18x10 +15 Custom 3 piece (more on these later)

I'll post more pictures and details as I get more done. I'm also learning sheet metal forming as I go so go easy on me if some of you do it for a living.

I like the idea here. Wide body but KEEPING the factory lines. This could end up looking better than a lot of wide body evos out there.

I'm not typically a fan of wide body Evos, but this is very nicely done. I look forward to seeing your progress. What are you gonna do about the taillights to make them fit in with that rear quarter extension? Or does it still line up?

Funny you ask because that's what I was working on tonight. They still line up pretty good.

This is so scary for those of us that don't know how to do it. Can I please send you my car and have you do the same? Nice work, keep it up. I'm also a fan of keeping the OEM lines. That's the #1 problem I have with other "wide body" cars.

Nice work. Must be a body man. I'd love to get some hand made sheetmetal flares or extension for the rear wheel arch welded in and be done with clearance back there for good.

I’m not sure if I know what I’m doing haha. Cutting the door was “meh” since I could pick up a used door relatively easy and cheap. Cutting into the quarter panel took more commitment than some marriages

Nope, just worked for my cousin at his body shop for a couple of summers many years ago. I’m actually an engineer now first shot at forming sheet metal by hand...

Engineers and technicians can do anything! We just have to get stubborn enough, that's key.

Good work so far keep it up. What's the plan to make both sides match each other in physical dimensions?
