After lurking on here for awhile, I decided to post my current build. I bought my first Evo 9 almost a year ago in December of 2023. I'm in Illinois so I didn't get to drive it much because of snow/salt/winter. The car had basic mods: fuel pump, injectors, intercooler piping, exhaust, clutch, and cams. My original goal was to just have some fun with it since I've never owned and Evo 8 or 9. I've had a bunch of dsms in the past and an Evo X. I currently have a full bolt on GTR, so the Evo 9 was just going to be another fun car to drive and I wasn't going to mod it. The car was in really good condition. The chassis had been undercoated so there wasn't any rust. The entire car had been repainted along with a carbon fiber hood and trunk to match. Well around May of this year the timing tensioner started leaking and the timing jumped. After hearing the pistons and valves smacking each other, I decided to do a full build.
My goal was to have a fun street car. I wanted 600whp with working air conditioning. I probably over built it for my goals, but better to be safe than sorry. Car will be tuned for 93 octane and E85 on stock ECU. Unfortunately, it's winter again so after I get it running it won't be able to put the break in miles on it until spring. After that it will be going to Boostin Performance to be tuned.
