Making the plenum bigger just guarantees poorer throttle response and shifts the helmholtz tuning effect slightly.

You can make the plenum larger but if it doesn't actually improve airflow to the runners, it's not going to do much for power. Basically, the further from the runner inlet you add volume, the less effect it's going to have as the local conditions around the runner inlet dominate the airflow characteristics.

03white,
I understand what you're saying and agree, but in my experience on the engine dyno... most times increasing the plenum volume in any direction will yield power gains.

Yeah, you usually don't have a plenum that's so big in one direction that you don't get gains from increasing.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that being smart about where you increase size can give you more gains then just making it bigger every where. Increasing the size where it matters allows you to keep it as small as possible for throttle response but allows the high peak # too.

i know this is an old dead thread, but now the V5 has beat the F1,so how does the DI lose to the F1 terribly, but i saw the DI beat the V5 in low/mid range with no loss on top another test?

i don't get it.

Didn't DI beat all the others?

Seems like it depends on the test. One vendor has shown the DI beating the Magnus, another has shown the opposite.

If you really look at the results that have been posted, it's clear as mud which manifolds work the best.

Look at what manifolds have been proven. Not just on 1 or 2 cars but many cars. I see more DI manifolds on drag cars, and street cars then any other manifold and most records broken had a DI manifold on the car.

as far as street cars are concerned i would disagree completely.i have seen a bunch EVO's in person and honestly can't remember seeing one DI manifold in person.even on here i don't see too many.i would say AMS is the most popular for street cars at least that is what i see most.

the F1 killed the DI in the test above.it wasn't even close.

maybe there is something wrong with the testing of the intakes?

If you look at the fastest times on the strip, most of them have DI not AMS F1, I think Magnus is a close second.

Prob would be 1st if they came out at the same time as the F1. Both are great cast manifolds, but I think the Magnus makes better overall power.

I love my Hypertune IM. Makes great power (aka the most through the power band) and I've had them all.

Off topic, I know

that's why i said street cars.Evodan said DI is mot popular on street cars and i have never even seen a DI on a street car locally.

for drag cars,i would agree with you and Evodan.

i just wish someone would test them all on a dyno and in the 1/4 mile so we would all know once and for all.

the current tests can not be accurate.how does the DI beat the magnus, the magnus beat the F1 and then the F1 beast the DI.something is off.

i have an old VSR and have had a few people tell me going from a VSR to the F1 netted them good gains in the low-mid ranges, but i have also been told to keep the VSR but a some.

I am not commenting on either of these manifolds, I am going to make a blank statement and you guys can use it as you want:

Quickest ET in the US is still AMS's, they had their OLD style intake on their car.

Fastest MPH in the US belonged to us for 4+ years, we had the HKS Kansai on the car.

Emery is currently the quickest running 8.7's, quickest 2 liter to date and fastest T3 and he is using the Skunk intake.

Mike at AWD has gone 8's on a BR ported stock intake manifold.

My RS has gone 9.0 at 159 on a ported stock intake and is what I currently run.

So in reality the quickest and fastest EVO run neither of these intakes in question.
We have dyno'd all of the intakes on the market with the exception of the F1.
