Fastest MPH in the US belonged to us for 4+ years, we had the HKS Kansai on the car.

Emery is currently the quickest running 8.7's, quickest 2 liter to date and fastest T3 and he is using the Skunk intake.

Mike at AWD has gone 8's on a BR ported stock intake manifold.

My RS has gone 9.0 at 159 on a ported stock intake and is what I currently run.

So in reality the quickest and fastest EVO run neither of these intakes in question.
We have dyno'd all of the intakes on the market with the exception of the F1.

that about AMS VSR or BR racing smim?

The results I have gathered in our testing-

Magnus V3/V5- 167mph through a 5 speed and a loose as F Auto (numerous 8.40s at 36psi)
JM fabrication - 167mph through a loose as F auto (also an 8.35)
AMS VSR - 167mph with a bad miss (not the intake)

The direct dyno comparison of the AMS to V5 has been done and on a car that most here will build or have built. FP Black and all off the shelf parts. The DI loses a metric CRAP ton of torque compared to the V5 and might only squeeze a little out the top.

I don't agree on the DI losing torque, the exact opposite actually. The fact is with intake testing the intakes all work better on one engine combo than any other. My testing was all done on a 600+ whp 2 liter sith iur cams in it. All testing eas done on one car, one dyno and always back to back the same day, change any of that and the results are worthless. Our fab'd intake worked better than anything we tested BUT only on that combo and again with the same combo in my car but a 2.1. On the stroker I have now it basically sucked.

So word to the wise, unless the intake you are buying was build for what you have, it may not work well at all. I'm back on a stock ported intake and make more power now than I ever have with less boost than I've ever run.

Good to know. I bought a skunk mani and had it worked by stm. Maybe it's not the best for my set up.. Stock shorty with s2 cams and a 71 hta.

As David said, it will depend on the spec, look at this graph, DI vs Magnus V5. DI has more midrange torque than the Magnus V5. On another car it might be different.

I think a lot has to do with how hard you are pushing the turbo.

If the turbo has available airflow and is not the limiting factor, you can see some decent gains with intake manifolds. If the turbo is being pushed the point where it is dropping boost, you aren't going to pick up much peak power. You might be able to pick up some torque before the turbo is maxed out, but you could probably do the same with just cranking the boost higher at lower engine speeds and making it drop even harder.

I'm not saying you can't make any more power once the turbo is struggling to keep up; it's just not as easy. I think it is less about quantity of airflow at that point and more about "quality." There could be gains if somebody put in a lot of work on a wet flow bench, engine simulation software, and a lot of engine dyno testing. I don't think you'll ever get that power just by slapping together some things and testing it on the chassis dyno though.

Aaron, did you experience the same with the VSR or not as much?

reason i ask is that i have a VSR on my car and i have had some sharp guys tell to ditch it for the F1 and i have some guys(also sharp guys) say keep it,it won't lose much down low and may even make more up top.it's on a 2.4L btw.

maybe Aaron is testing with the 2.4L?the DI clearly got whipped by the F1 in the above test and the f1 and V5 have been tested as being close to each other on the 2.4L,so maybe the DI does best on the 2.0L?

while we are on the subject, what about throttle bodies?

are the stock ported TB's as good as the 70-75mm aftermarkets?and what is the limit of the 65mm TB?seems like a lot of fast cars run the 65mm ported stock unit, but i am starting to see lots of Boombas and the 70mm units as well.i now the aftermarkets look prettier, but are they necessary?

Got 6765 right now but going to 6766 route w my 2.1 motor(alum rods). I'm looking for an intake. I can't decide if I should get Magnus V5 or AMS F1?
