2.3L FP Green 73hta MHI S2 93oct

We finished up Justin's Evo 8 not to long ago tuning wise. Justin requested us to do some detailing / compound and polish work after I showed him some samples of our work, and it turned out great. The car went from looking dull / gray to shinny black again. It's like the paint has a new life now.

We compounded it first, then polished it, then sealed it, and waxed it. Pictures below at the end of this post. We charge between $500-600 for this service only & it basically puts new life into your vehicle.

As far as tuning the car. This is a fun setup to drive. The 2.3 allowed the Green to spool very fast, like a stock turbo on a 2.0L, while being able to make good power on just 93 octane fuel.

The vehicle came to us with a return line oil leak, multiple vacuum line issues (one where the wastegate/boost source lines were being pinched in between pulls causing the car to over boost. Others were just boost leaks we addressed and repaired with permanent fixes. One odd one was a fully missing o-ring for the tial Q bov.

Last minute I seen the exhaust manifold only had 3 of 4 bolts holding it to the turbine housing, so I put a new bolt in place as well. I don't think it really affected spool though, because I did not hear an exhaust leak. I think overtime having 3 bolts instead of 4 would cause the gasket to blow out though on the side the bolts missing.

The mods are:

Spec Ops 2.3L
CBRE Ported head
GSC S2 Cams
Ported DBB FP Green 73hta (MHI)
FIC 1100cc @ 73% IDC
Walbro 255 modded
Comp Stage 3 Clutch
PPI ported Intake manifold and 65mm Throttle Body
Tial Q BOV
Short route I/C piping
BR ported stock exhaust manifold
BR FMIC
BR 3" TBE w/ cat
Grimmspeed 3port
Tephra v7 speed density /w ecuboost

550 whp on 93 octane?? I know Midwest 93 octane is very good, but 550 whp on a Green seems out of this world.

still seems high for a pump gas Green, then again 30psi seems high to me on a green with pump gas

93 octane is good fuel. My car makes 420whp on ACN 91 making 27psi on my red. These numbers on a 2.3 on better fuel don't seem unrealistic.

Yes 29-30psi holding solid to redline is a lot of boost for 93oct. It just goes to show the fuel we get here is really good. It was Sheetz 93. The fuel that was in the car prior from owner was really good also. I think the Tristate area gets really good 93 octane in general depending on where you go.

In general from my experience tuning cars from all over the USA, The average boost normally we can push on 93 is around 25-26psi at redline. So our area is lucky enough to get really good 93 fuel.

The customer is super happy and we took a picture of the car right before he took it in outside lighting. We should of gotten a picture of it beside the other black evos we have at the shop, because it made them look gray in color.

Customers response:

Yeah, pulls great! Starts pulling immediately and just keeps on going. Very smooth. Very drivable. Great work.

I just saw the graphs. Thanks for posting them up.

Thanks again for all the work.

Justin

Ya I love paint correcting. If you're ever in the market and want it done to any car feel free to let me know. We do full 2 stage compound and polish jobs for around $600.

The end result is like the pro's that charge $1500 for the same service. I did my home work before I started offering this stuff, and have lots of $ invested in very high end hardware and product in general.

We used Rupes 21 on this car, and a Flex 3401. Meg105 and 205. Sealed the paint with jet seal, then used Wolfgang Fuzion wax to finish it off.

Before we do any kind of paint correction, we wash the car, claybar the car /w spray wax, etc.

The end results always very rewarding.

One thing I've always wondered is doesn't this kind of stuff eventually remove the clearcoat and thus lead to a situation where it has to be routinely performed to maintain appearance?
