Continuing with my nightmare of a used transmission...
I get ready to drive the car, but the shifter won't move side to side. I get back under the hood to find this:
so great. the assembly shaft is bent into a "U". yay.
So, i'm trying to find a replacement. All i can find is this diagram. So, for part number MR410806 (23226 in the picture) is the diagram saying i get the shaft and the second collar or it comes with everything in the bracket? I always thought anything in the bracket was included, but the guy at the dealership say it's just the shaft and one of the locking collars. That doesn't make any sense to me, but how would I know? I tried to pop the pins out of rod, but broke one of my punches trying LOL. I'm hoping to buy the entire thing and more or less drop it in. Opinions?
If i could have found someone to build my 6spd for $1100, i definitely would have. Of course, by the time I'm done replacing all the missing and broken pieces from this one, I'll be in debt enough i could have bought another, functioning 6spd and had an OEM rebuild done on it.
How do you suppose that happened? One too many Laguna's
Seriously though, curious how the shift shaft would bend. Send it to Jacks?
No clue. That is one serious piece of steel. And I see no damage to any other part indicating it had been hit or dropped. Weird. One of the bolts were loose, so I think its not the assly that was originally on the trans.
All my money went to buy the trans. I'm selling parts off my car to do these repairs. No WAY can I afford having anything built. Plus, I'll never need anything that sturdy.
