Another new guy on the block!

Hey Everybody!

The name is Mike. Wanted to introduce myself to the forums as I will be joining the dark side in the next few months. I'm in the process of bringing my 2005 STI back to stock and selling it.

My full bolt on STI consisted of:
20G xtr turbo , 870 Injectors, 255 fuel pump, Equal length Headers, Catless Turboback, 40MM external wastegate, 73MM Intake, ETS intercooler.

Car was definitely fun but I want more power! Above 350whp on the stock EJ motors is suspect and I'm asking for things to break. I've always loved Evo's and I'm ready to make some decent power (above 400+ Hp) with basic bolt ons etc. So here I am looking for an Evo IX SE/GSR (i want the stronger 5 Speed) with somewhat low miles and basic bolt ons.

I hope I'm making the right decision by switching to an Evo! hopefully I don't regret it.

Looking forward to chatting with some of ya'll!

-Mike

Hi Mike

Welcome & good luck on the EvO hunt. I too almost bought the STI to start but an EvO mechanic friend explained the basic diff between the 2

Iron block w/crank girdle / straight 4 layout vs the more complex boxer motor & the ease of modding compared to the STI

8 Years later, still on stock motor, running E85 & an honest 407 WHP to the ground

Hey Joe,

That is awesome! Those are the numbers I am looking for! What other modifications are done on your evo? It was between the evo and sti for me and I went with the sti. Although the sti never really gave me any problems the last 5 years I've had it, i just cant see myself shelling out a lot money to maybe break 400hp to the wheels.

Hi Mike

Its a track day prepared EVO9. All major suspension bits are done (coilovers, bushings, sways, endlinks etc)
Stock engine internals (1000cc inj / Walbro 255 pump / 3.75" Nisei FMIC & short route pipes / mini battery/motor mounts). Running on E85

Here she is in trackday form. If you have any EvO questions that you think I can answer, let me know

Joe

you wont regret it. The evo is a better track car and faster. If performance is your thing you will enjoy it
