Recaros from wrecked car

I was just wondering what the risks would be of using a set of Recaro seats that came out of a wrecked car (but seat airbags did not deploy). If something related to the airbag was damaged or knocked out of place from the impact, would it always be detected when all the wiring is plugged in (and cause airbag light)? Anything else structurally that could be damaged and compromise safety without being immediately obvious when looking at them?

I am just curious since I've seen sets from wrecked cars for sale, and other sets where it is not clear what car they came out of.

Hi, I have Recaro set from a wrecked 2012 MR in my 2015 GSR. The driver side airbag is blown but I stitched it back up with nylon thread. Do not plug the connectors but use a resistor instead no faults came up. The driver side is plug and play but you need the OE weight sensors etc. no faults came up on my install and the dealer did not say anything when I went for service.

Thanks. I see that it is possible, but I was more wondering if there are any safety concerns with using seats from a wrecked car (even if the seat airbags weren't deployed).

No risk, if they were not deploy, you should be fine and in case of an accident they should deploy.

If the airbags never deployed in the seats, you'll be fine.

Can Recaro's be put in a Final Edition, and if so, what kind of modifications would need to be made, if any?

There is nothing special about the US FE, i did it on my 2015 and is just a swap of the weight sensor and seat bealt from the cheap lancer seats. Other than thet is bolt on, they just did not install the recaro on the 2015 or FE due to US regulations.

If the srs module did not deploy the air bags or the seat belt pre tensioner then you should be a ok.

so do you use the OE weight sensors in the 2015 or do you need the ones the recaros came with?

I think you use the sensors that came with the car. See "INSTALLING DIFFERENT OEM FRONT SEATS" on https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ult-codes.html
