So, I have a 05 evo MR and it's the rustiest vehicle I have Its very rusty and crusty... It lived in the Northeast for all of its life... I want to know if anyone else has this same rust or not and if it creates a hazard for the car..

 

I work in the automotive industry & deal quite a bit w/corrosion related damage

Driving in the winter months, where the di-icers are used (mag & calcium chlorides & the salts), creates serious metal issues as well as attacks all the electrical connections

If you plan on keeping the EvO & turning into a weekender, be great to do a full body-off restoration. We use a soft, self healing, undercoat on all our under carriage components

 

This evo is my daily driver and just want to make sure it's safe to drive lol. Yea, I have undercoat, but haven't had the time to do it yet.. Do you use a wire brush, sand it, then spray the undercoat?

That rust does look pretty bad, I wouldn't take that Evo to a track day or anything.

 

With more time and more corrosion it can create a hazard. Rust and rot makes it a PITA to work on too so what I like to do is grab stainless hardware when you remove old rusty stuff and use lots of anti seize.
