so I'll just be losing travel? anyone running 7" springs on their ohlins?

also, that assumes the number of coils/the springs total compressible area is the same - it loses travel by the length of "open area" it loses, not by the spring itself being shorter, correct? extreme example being a spring with just one coil. also, would think it's technically better for a damper in the case that it'll be less likely to bottom out, since max compressible area is less

just wanted to update this -- had a good chat with GTWorx, and they said shortening the spring wouldn't raise the car, and that i'm about as extended as i can be on the bottoms. they did say that i can add as much preload as there is corner weight, which makes sense. i've got about 1k lbs on each of the fronts, so if i add about an inch of preload on my front springs @ 450lbs (8k), i'll still be well within good range even when the car is full straight accelerating.

hi can you guys help on what spring rate for my evo x i do canyon runs and race track.. on my s2000 i was running hks iv sp which is 16kf/16kr as a daily and i dont mind riding a stiff car.. on my evo x i already have hotchkis fsb and rsb, caster kit, rck, engine mounts, rear diff bushings, driveshaft bushings, and slowly working on completing my bushing ons the suspension..since my ayc took a dump, ive decided to ditch my ayc and went with the evo 9 mechanical rear diff.. one my friend recommend to run 10kf/10kr and he only has a rear sway bar... since i have front and back sway bar mine would be different then, so far after learning alot on this thread im leaning on getting a 10f/12r or should i go with 12f/14r? im mostly going to run on street tire.. in the future once i get my wing and front splitter would do i need to change my spring rate again to a stiffer or soft? thx guys

My concern about running a high front rate is that you have uprated the FSB. The general rule of thump is:

Its either one or other / Stiff springs w/soft sways or Soft sways w/stiff springs (cant run both effectively)

I wouldnt suggest any higher rate than a 10K / 12K setup. Even at those rates, their will be a likely increase in understeer & the chance of floating the inside front tire on hard, fast corners

I would have suggested to leave the FSB at the stock setting & work only w/a more track oriented spring rate

(BTW, you should have posted in the X forum)

Evo X doesn't need the higher rear rate. 10/10 works well.
