Tanabe Medalion Touring Exhaust ::JawDrop:: Now with PICS!!!

Tanabe's Medlion Touring exhaust was top on my list after getting nailed in MA for a noise violation. I checked into it since it seemed to be one of the only noise-legal exhausts with 80mm piping...it sports a stock-ish look with a well finished oval canister and polished, dual-walled tip. the only problem was the short supply...

Yesterday it arrived, well packed and with the required hardware and gaskets for the install. I immediately swapped out the cat-back and installed the Tanabe unit.

Review:

The fit is fantastic, great bumper clearance, nicely tucked and perfectly centered on the exhaust cutout in the bumper. The finish on the tip and canister gives a very refined look.

Then I started the car...the idle tone is a nice low note, deeper than my old TurboXS RFL or my buddies GreddyTi...With a no-load rev you immediately understand just how quiet this exhaust is...the note is barely perceptible.

A test drive confirmed that this is exactly the exhaust i was looking for...even with a downpipe and high-flow cat it is basically as quiet as a stock Evo IX MR at cruising, and all the way up past 5k rpm. There is 0 drone in the car at highway speeds, and when the exhaust note is audible, it has an incredible tuned and very civilized output. Power seemed relatively the same as the TXS, i feel like the throttle response is a bit better, but I think that is a mental-tweak based on the fact that you're going fast and it's quiet.

I will dyno the car after my honeymoon (gettin' married on Saturday) and I will try to get pics up tonite...I'm sorry that it was so late last night by the time I was done cruising.

I'd like to thank Tanabe for a wonderful product and I would especially like to thank Chris at CVR motorsports who hooked me up with an amazing price and lots of hours of tracking this piece down. Thanks guys!!

Hello avengerhed

We're happy to hear you enjoy the exhaust! You are using the system exactly as it was intended to be used when we were coming up with the design years ago. The Medalion Touring stays fairly quiet, even with additional modifications like downpipe, and high flow cats. The canister is straight through and should put down some impressive numbers.

Definitely looking forward to some more objective, real world results!

Here are some pics...it's pouring here in MA so I really apologize for the butt-like quality. Nevertheless, enjoy! Tanabe and CVR, feel free to use and redistribute these pics as you like.

It looks really nice. Lets get a can test at the point where the straight pipe meets the resignating canister.

wanna thank chris at CVR motorsports and Lucky for helping me install my tanabe medalion touring! we didn't take any pics, (no one had a camera and camera phones suck)but we'll try to get some up and hopefully some sound clips too!
the quality of this exhaust, the fitment, the sound, simply amazing! i too, did not notice any loss in power, and my car does feel like power had increased.
i love this exhaust! ask chris! he drove it after we installed it!

again, i'd like to thank chris for an awesome deal and customer service!
