Electrical issue after Defi install

Here is the deal. After unsuccessfully wiring the defi control unit to the radio harness with the vampire clips that come with it, i dug up a howto and had a friend (evo98) solder it into the cigarette lighter. Since the install, non of the exterior running lights on my passenger side work. This is a really odd issue, the headlight still works, the tail light will not light up, but if you apply brake it lights right up. The interior lights that will not work are the radio, and the HVAC controls. I have no idea whats going on, electrical issues are not my forte. Someone please help !!
All fuses are good.

Make sure all the plugs are plugged in if you have one undone it throws the hole thing off

sorry cant help ya but I really think somebody should post an updated how to for the control unit...I've found all of the wires on my IX except the constant 12v that is supposedly in the radio harness...it would help alot if somebody could just post a pic of the wire and how to get to it cause I have all my wires hooked up cept the constant and the control unit wont work (obviously) so any help would be great

If yanked the constant 12v from my radio harness, its pretty easy to find, just get a radio pinout

I used the cigarette lighter for the entire install. pretty simple and i like the fact that it has not interference w/ the radio..

I am installing the Defi Blue Racer Gauge. I need to know what wires to tap into.

Black wire- To ground or negative battery Terminal. (no problem)

White wire illumination- to 12V wire when small lamp on. (What wire?)

Red wire-12V Battery- to 12V battery wire (what wire?)

Orange wire-IGN- to 12V wire when ignition on. (what wire?)

Thanks in advance for any help or pictures.

Did I find what I was looking for? Dose this work for the Blue Racer guage? Also How did you use the cigarette lighter for everything

yo deep, I wrote back to ya...

But now that i'm coming back to this thread, the information is right above. It's pretty much explanatory.. But I understand how one can get confused w/ this install.

Did anyone ever try to tap into the clock???

My brother and i set this up in his STi and we tapped everything into the clock on the dash just like our EVOs have.

I will be looking to this soon as well so am exploring the option.

The radio harness is your best bet unless you want your Defi's lights to stay the same brightness with your headlamps on or off.
The white (or is it orange?) wire on the Defi harness is for switched 12v source. That would be the wire on your head unit that dims the lights when you turn on your parking lamps.
The red wire can be tapped into any constant 12v with ignition on. Black is of course ground.

For those of you lacking electricity know-how, go to Wal-Mart or any auto parts store and pick up a voltmeter or voltage tester. They are very simple to use and will help you tons with chasing wiring problems.

The clock wiring is labled: +12, IGN, ILL, GRD which is exactly what the Defi control unit requires. When your lights are off they are full brightness (or whatever level you choose to set) and when your lights are on the gauges dim (to whatever level you set) and the control unit lights turn on

I hate when incorrect information is spread

Uhm...well I didn't provide any false information so I'm not sure why you'd quote me but I digress and will say that the clock also works for this install.

Ur both right. You can use the radio, Clock, or Cigarrette lighter.

It's pretty much up to the owner of the car to choose on how to run his connections.
