Help with my new Engine!(clank noise)

So we are about to get done with my new motor...We put oil, coolant etc...
We unplug the conectors in the coil pack and start it to build oil pressure.....then we conect everything together.
We start it and as soon as it crank for the first 3 seconds....We HEARD A CLANK NOISE!!!...we thought it was the radiator fan hitting something... But it's not! Now My mechanic is taking off the oil pan and checking the bottom. Would this be the oil pump??? or something?? But the noise is similar when i broke the rod!(i hope not)

What else should we check?

anymore idea what could it be? but how come when we are trying to start it with the coil pack unpluged...it didn't make any weird noise? it only made a noise when we connected everything and start it!

You shouldn't try to spin it with just the coil pack unplugged. You are still dumping fuel into the cylinders. You should disconnect the crank angle sensor which will stop both fuel and spark. Not sure what the noise might be.

I'd triple check the timing.

Valve hitting piston - bending valve, breaking valve, loosing compression...worst case, break or bend valve and lock piston bending or breaking rod - which may put a hole in your case.

timing went off!!! bend some valves and damaged pistons and rods...
Im getting a new pistons and rods now! Please suggest the best combo (piston+rods) Should I get Wiseco pistons and Manley rods or Oliver rods or Eagle rods or Crowers?
Basically I am decided of getting the Wiseco Piston but I haven't decided which Rods? Also which rod bearings??
