Yah, those rumours are bull... my dealer told me it is not possible etc etc but I bought one set from japan and fitted it right on!!!

As I realised for my JDM specced car, the projectors will be plug an play for the following features only:

1) Low Beam HID
2) Bi-xenon High Beam (deflector based)
3) Headlamp levelling (Need to get the OEM switch from parts dealer)

For international version:

Adaptive Lighting System (steering influenced lighting) will not work

For US specced cars:

DRLs will not function, but it is seriously just a matter of pin change, if anyone can get hold of the 09 workshop manual, that cab be accomplished in a flurry.

1 year ago, I bought the oem projectors at about US$2k per set and installed them on my own... US$200 is way too good a deal... Yes, installing them was chicken feat, involve loosening up the front bumpers though, no need complete removal.

Our rides look identical... hehe

Thank you my friend for your info.

So its depends on the wires locations on the harness, well it's a plus that I don't have to mod my projectors or pay someone to turn off the DRL's !!!!!!! I like the look of the projectors without the DRL's.

For the 09s, it should be plug and play... for the '08s, maybe not wired up.

The pin change is the deliberate switching of the DRL wires from your ecu to the headlamps. involve some cutting. If anyone can get hold of the 09 manuals, I can do the deciphering for you guys.

Yup... now we will have to wait for those wiring information to become available.

For my AFS, I was not able to get it to work simply because the ETACS ecu lacked this functionality. However, the wiring is there, just that it does not work as there is no signal from the command unit, aka, ECU...

You will probably not have problems with the DRLs unless of course you have gotten hold of a JDM specced projector unit, which means that those are AFS lamps instead of DRL. However, if the wreck you salvaged from is local from your dealer, then I don't see any problems...

Cheers, keep in touch.

so from what i am understanding that for the 2008 lancer specific the evo x hid's will stay on just like regular headlamps do with the drl's when the switch is to off position and they get brighter when the switch is set to position ON just like regular headlamps?? or do they stay on constantly?? guys with 08 lancer and those headlamps please verify?

Also where do you guys get those evo x headlamps from? and how much?

Mines from a wrecked Evo x.

In the 08 Lancer I don't know if they stays always on. In my case, the projector HID turn on and off with the switch and change between low beam and high beam on the same HID housing (the cirlcle one).

Th other rectancular housing( DRL) are always off, so I can turn on and off the HID while im driving. Remember I have a 09 Lancer with the 2 plug on the harness.

Lancer headlamps: DRL's and low beam are in the same bigger headlamp and high beam is in the small one.

EVO X Projectors: The DRL's are in the square headlamp ( mines is always off) and low and high beams are in the same projector housing( the circle one)

Here is my projector with the DRL off and High beam ON.

ok

in this conversion in my case and i think with turbotech the projector with hid in the 09 can be turn on or off at any time in the o8 you cant do that if you dont leave the lights on all the time when you start the car with the heads switch in off position of course the lights off with out the DRL but if you try turn on the heads they flicker a lot then turn off because the DRL remember you need to change the pins to work GTS 08.

The projector heads are HID from factory so any hid can't be on with dimmer like DRL for that reason on this heads the nesxt beam on the assembly looks like the high beam but is not, is just the DRL 1157 bulb so the projector is a BI-Xenon has a solenoid inside to lower a little pice to see the complete output of light and when in low beam the little part cover the half light output.

In my Knowledge the AFS is a complete different assembly of the heads is a plus to the projector and the autoleveling.

Turbo thech you can take a closer picture for hte two connector to check the color cables?

Thanks
