Yeah, I was thinking about that too. I don't know if the IAT would ever get all that close to ECT though, unless it is a very poor placement of the sensor that it picked up a lot of heat off the exhaust manifold.

Really though, you can error on the rich side pretty easily and the car will run fine. Tapering it from a locked temp and the MAT might be fine under all conditions, provided the locked temp errored to the rich side. Might not be OEM quality, but if it got the job done...

Yep, completely agree. Too rich will idle much better than too lean, and why maybe a simple fixed value may be a good enough solution.

How about have the last known IAT value saved to ram at shutoff? Then have it set so it uses the saved IAT value at startup 'if' coolant temps are still above a determined value?

Rough example:

Use last known IAT if: coolant temp is above 130f

This way you are using the coolant temp as a way of guessing if underhood heatsoaking is still occurring. Just an idea.

Yes, I thought about that, too, but not being a coder, I would imagine that would be the most difficult to implement.

Yeah, I was thinking more about a future rom design improvement by the coding guru's lol. IDK if someone could mod a rom for one of you guys to beta test and see if it even helps at all.

I'm going to try and code up my own V2 speed density that I can test out, but I've already hit a hang up.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...ange-help.html

I've got to the point where I can pretty easily read the code, I figure it is time to jump in and see how to change it.

I'm a bit confused with that cranking ipw tables.. which tables shoud I edit.

in v7 9653 "the cranking primer initial pulse" is the same as we know "cranking enrichment IPW adder" ?

Soud I lower the value in this table by the old/new injector scaling ratio ? Also make changes here when start up issue with e85 ?

What to do with the table the "Global fuel settings startup" ?

What does Initial cranking ipw vs coolant temp table doing ? What is differences between this and the cranking primer initial pulse table ?

Both can be edited. One controls a single primer pulse that occurs at the moment the motor starts cranking while the other is the sustained fueling while the starter continues to crank. The primer alone is usually pretty effective at mitigating cold starts with E85. The tables usually do not need editing for pump gas, unless perhaps 1680s or 2150s are being used.

Hey guys so I have read through this thread and I am kinda confused so I figured I would ask directly. I am running the tephra v7 9417 rom. I run forced open loop and I am having a problem with idling afrs. The car itself idles fine and if I did not have the WB I would not even know. Cold startup will give me lean (15.5-17) and as the car warms up it will progressively get richer and richer. By fully warm it idles anywhere from 11-12afr. I am thinking its not hard to adjust it to be at least a little closer but maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Edit*

So pretty sure I see why my cold afrs are so high. I tuned my cruise for around 15.2 but just realized I raised my fuel map down in the idle area as well. Afraid to drop it back down though cause I assume its going to drop my warm afrs even more.
