I had a question. Which mounting brackets are you guys using? I have a 08 EVO w/o the factory navi that came with a Eclipse AVN6620. It came with a pos metra kit which I want to replace. I bought the scosche kit but I don't have the correct double din mount brackets. Do I need to contact Eclpise to see if I could buy new ones or would I need to get a OEM bracket?

The bracket that is already holding up the Eclipse will remain with a different dash piece.

+1 for getting a hold of this stinger dash piece. That looks really nice... Like a hybrid between the JDM and Scoche.

I don't think the metra brackets will work since they clip into the metra dash kit. Unlike the scosche one the metra one does not have screw mounts. Would the OEM Navi brackets work?

I was not aware of that. The part number for the OEM double-DIN mounting bracket is 91516 (Bracket, Television). Should run about $35 from your local dealer.

I installed the scosche double din kit with a JVC 840 head unit. Its acceptable IMO. No rattling, fits well. Since you re-use your stock ac vents it still looks nice. The texture seems a tad off, but its not distracting.

Compared to the Metra kit here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...night-day.html

The Scosche unit looks MUCH better. The fitment at the top could still be better, but its no where near as bad as the Metra unit.

If you can justify the $165 difference, JDM. But for that much money, I was 100% happy with my Scosche.
