guys, there are other places you can post about street racing, if you cant have a section here. register on www.performancesport.net and post away in the street racing section. we dont condone it - it is illegal afterall - but we realise its apart of american automotive heritage and so we allow it to go on. we figure it will happen no matter what we say or hope.

yes...ideally you go to a track and race, but when tracks are 2 hours away, and only open 1 day a week - a week day mind you, and i work monday through friday AND go to school full time, i dont have time to travel to my local track. i personally dont run on the street, but there are others out there just like myself, who do happen to run. let us know how you do, and what supporting mods you are running with.

and of course: "all posts are fictisious and for the sole purpose of entertainment!" hahaha. check us out if you want to post your racing outcomes

Street racing is moving state legislators towards laws that will make it illegal to change anything except our floor mats. I have very little respect for street racing kill stories where half the time the “loser” never even knew he was in a race. I do have respect for the kids that take it to the drag strip and compete in a safe place. We can encourage safe competition and not allow kills stories to fill our forums. It glorifies a very dangerous act and encourages others to take chances so they can post the next best “kill”.

This website has decided to take a mature stand against it. We encourage other websites to follow. Thanks.

What the community needs is a place we can go and SAFELY drag race, for free, at anytime... drag strips aren't open year round (in most places) and charge you to race, and usually hold open drag races every few weeks or so when they are open... IMO If we had something like that, there'd be absolutly no want to redlight race, someone pulls up and wants to race you say "naw, let's go to _____ real quick and run a few times, afterall, it's free and open 24/7/365"

I just think it's stupid that all they're letting speak up are victim's families, and people who are anti-racing... let some racers speak up, and we'll fix the problem in a good way... and yeah, 5 bucks a run would be good, or even more, the key thing is having it open 24/7/365, that's what would cut down on a major part of it, having it be cheap would just cut it down more

You see there will never be a "free" place to race... someone has to maintain the track and keep it in good condition. People who race on the streets are just being cheap, immature, and just plain stupid.

The political structure you so deftly overlooked is "fascism" Communism means we all share equally, that no one is above anyone else. If this WERE turning into a communist state then there would be no moderators.... Fascism means those who hold power can do as they please, and opress whatever group they see fit, without consequence...... I digress.

I will say that kill stories have been deleted since before I joined. and I agree that they should be. I live in an area where street racing runs rampant and not so long ago we had 9 passers by killed when a kid's brakes failed, and that was just the start of the "racing season". Not effing cool. I've been pulled over for no reason in areas that are known for their street racing and all I was doing was going to a friend's house. Hell, there are signs posted that read "no street racing, strictly enforced". we have jackasses who do donuts in the middle of intersections, with traffic waiting to go wherever it is they want to go, just because these fools want to make a huge cloud of smoke. Whoopee!! I'm having a great time now!

Your opinon, that street racing is just "fun" has cost me countless hours dealing with police and with stricter regulations concerning what mods are tolerable on my car. Because police now look harder for imports to pick on members of my car club have been ticketed for stupid crap like having a license plate frame that "nearly covered the month and year tabs"..... I could go on, but won't.

Thank you. Thank you for expressing your opinion that street racing is "just fun". And because you choose to "express yourself" by street racing, you're turning our streets into a true fascist state.

FWIW

I am also against street racing. I usually take my frustrations out at the AutoX. But the simple fact is that I can only do that once a month and I only get 4 runs of about a minute each. It would be nice if there were places to drag or run that was open 24/7 but don't expect that to be free. I would definately support a place that charged $5 per run. There is nobody on this board that is a saint or that hasn't wanted to put some poser in his place or at least try that exotic next to you.

I also agree that street racers cause deaths and injuries, but so do soccer moms tailgating me while talking on their cellphones and trying to control their kids while driving their Ford Expeditions 4 feet off my bumper on the Turnpike at 70 mph on the way to work. If you want to discuss this, let's all get off our soapboxes and be reasonable about this. This whole issue would be better served by some constructive feedback instead of highly charged insults.

Come up with some hard data, talk to your legislators or something.

Or just do as I do and find an AutoX group. I just wish they would run more often.

Ridicilous discussion... People get so upset over having a section for street racing videos... If you don't like it don't watch it. If you are dumb enough to post your own videos racing then face the consequences when something happens... Its plain and simple... As for me I am not out to race anyone and didn't buy an evo to race people but I don't mind watching a car like mine at its limits on the track or not...

It's not whether people like it or not. It's just that if Mark allows street racing posts or videos on his site and allows the discussion, it is as if he supports and condones street racing. Because street racing is illegal, if authorities find this site condoning such activity it will be shut down. Do you want to see evom.net shut down because some retards want to post videos of the stupid things they do on the street? I know I dont...

Since when can websites be shut down due to "glorifying" illegal content? There are plenty of websites with the Anarchists cookbook on the web that are still up and running and that's alot more dangerous than a vid of an evo vs you name it. It's Marks choice either way, we were just asking to try it out.

Just because you bought a "performance car" doesnt give you the right to drive like maniacs on the street. As an administrator of www.sclc.net I would like to support the admin's decision here to censor street racing completely because not only is it illegal but it's just not right. So my opinion is NO street racing forum and for all you jerkwads who do street race, take it to a ****ing track before you kill yourselves or others.
Its illegal to speed, not use your turn signal, mod your car , take off emission equipment, to drive on the highway in the left lane when there is no traffic in the right lane(believe it or not some states go by this), etc. Well everyone on this site is guilty of one of them and the speeding, which is the most common, is dangerous as well. Street racing has been around much longer than any of us have lived. Some people choose to do it and thats their thing. I did it many years ago(about 16) and have no regrets even though it was completley different back then. No need to cut people down for street racing, I found that many of the people complaining like to drive spirited in the canyons and this is no less dangerous. This thread doesnt need any lecturing just voting.

i definately don't think we should be limited to what we can talk about as far as street racing. i mean i dont street race and i think its stupid, but i mean we go around talking about how all of us are taking our cats off, and last time i checked, thats illegal as well. i just dont think that we should be limited in that area, the only person that its harming is the moron who actually was racing, reading about it affects no one.
